People are inspired by movies and seek to mimic what they saw on screen all of the time.

To act as though they aren't inspired by movies/television is intellectually dishonest.
The whole entertainment industry is built on marketing all sorts of propaganda to different classes of people in society.
exactly.

It is one of Christopher Nolan's most acclaimed and profitable films and is still given a mammoth status even now. In 2010, a man was sentenced to almost a year of jail time after he broke into his cousin's home and assaulted him while he was dressed as The Joker. In 2009, another incident happened where a young girl assaulted an Indiana High School teacher. She ran after her teacher, holding a razor blade and carved the Joker's trademark smile into her face, after the teacher went to the bathroom, full of the Joker's red, white, and black makeup.

6. A Nightmare On Elm Street

This cult horror movie was later known to be the inspiration behind the murder spree of Daniel Gonzalez that happened in 2004. Gonzalez was already a paranoid schizophrenic who, one night, ended up consuming a series of drugs and went on an absolute rampage and killed four people in the process. He carried kitchen knives as his weapons and he pretended to be the killer from A Nightmare On Elm Street, Freddy Krueger. The official reports of the incident claimed that Gonzalez did not get proper treatment and that's why he acted out the way he did. He was given six life sentences for the murders.

9. Scream

It is one of the cult movies made by Wes Craven and he completely revolutionized the slasher genre. The movie had an extremely detailed portrayal of murder that one American judge even went on record to say that it was, " a very good source to learn how to kill someone." Like the others on the list, this movie inspired its own share of copycat murders, but the most notorious of the lot was that of Thierry Jaradin. Jaradin then befriended a young teenager named Alisson Cambier and invited her over to his house. There he proposed that they would have sex, but she refused. After hearing this, he excused himself to another room and put on the iconic costume. He came back in with two large carving knives and stabbed Cambier 30 times that mirrored the opening scene of the movie.

10. Natural Born Killers

It is one of the most infamous movies when it comes to crimes committed because of a single movie. The movie tells the story of a couple on the run from authorities, who go on to commit a series of violent and terrible crimes, and they have a lot of fun while doing so. Inspired by the movie, a young couple in love set out from Oklahoma on their own killing spree, mimicking the movie. In March 1995 they began their series of crimes by robbing and shooting the owner of a liquor store. Then, they traveled all the way to Louisiana to shoot a cashier at a convenience store. The couple had the audacity to return to their hometown so that they could brag to their friends about their exploits. Soon after, they were arrested and sent to jail in 1995.

This is true. That is not the point being made though. The point he made was these actors are not trying to live their characters lives. Some of those Drill rappers are actually trying to live the life they portray in their music. That causes some people to expect them to be what they portray themselves to be. That can still happen for an actor, but it is less likely since an actor will quickly tell the person that was a character they were playing.
drill rappers are .0000001% of the population why do they need to be brought up in every thread about crime in the black community by this sambo?

Freudian slip..

I don't bring up drill rappers in every thread about crime, in fact, in most threads about crime I don't bring up rappers or music at all. I do mention that the leading cause of death for Black males between the ages of 1-44 is homicide.

New York City Robbery Spree

Still shot from the film The Town

In 2010 and 2011, a group of men successfully committed 62 robberies in Brooklyn and Queens using techniques they saw in the 2010 crime thriller The Town. In the movie, an FBI agent hunts down a gang of thieves in Boston that use various clever techniques to avoid capture. The real-life robbers would do things like throw bleach on ATMs and cash drawers to destroy DNA evidence as well as cut the power to their robbery locations and use miner’s headlamps to see what they were doing.
The burglars began their spree in August 2010 and raided a candy store in Queens only days before their arrest in October 2011. They managed to steal a total of $217,000. However, they did not follow the methods laid out in The Town precisely. In the movie, the thieves use disguises like masks and costumes while the real-life culprits wore their regular clothes.

That is what you have to ask him. What I got from his statements is that he feels you can't call yourself pro-Black while also supporting very anti-Black entertainment. Entertainment that glorifies the killing of Black men instead of trying to disgrace it is not pro-Black in his opinion. I just happen to agree with that opinion.

8. The RoboCop murderer

Serial killers have cited some pretty bizarre inspiration. The Son of Sam killer claimed he was taking orders from his neighbor's demonic dog. Nathaniel White, who beat and murdered six women during the early 1990s, said he was initially inspired to kill while watching the movie RoboCop 2. White elaborated: "The first girl I killed was from a RoboCop movie.… I seen [the character] cut somebody's throat then take the knife and slit down the chest to the stomach and left the body in a certain position. With the first person I killed I did exactly what I saw in the movie." After being fingered for a spate of gruesome murders in New York state, White was caught in 1992 and sentenced to 150 years to life in prison.

Here's the actual quote. I think it's important to highlight that you're misrepresenting the actual arguments to make a point that we aren't even disagreeing with.

Preach my dude, Arnold Schwarzenegger ain't pretending to be the Terminator when he's off a movie set. Ya favorite goon rapper is acting like a gangster no matter what.

The Basketball Diaries(1995)

The Basketball Diaries features Leonardo DiCaprio as a talented basketball player who spirals into heroin addiction. Like Inception, the major controversy stems from a dream consequence: in The Basketball Diaries DiCaprio has a daydream where, clad in a black trenchcoat, he enters his class with a shotgun and proceeds to massacre his classmates like Xaero with quad-damage. And, just like Inception, when someone follows Leo’s example, people die. Case in point: Barry Loukaitis’ 1996 classroom shooting that left 3 people dead. Loukaitis wore a black trenchcoat in which he concealed pistols, ammunition and a rifle; he entered the classroom and began shooting. After he had finished, he allegedly smiled and said, “That sure beats algebra, doesn’t it?” The expressions of his classmates were unknown, although we can assume they were equivalent to a negative.

A thing no one here said.

:francis:

I support you continuing to post links to people committing crimes after being inspired by entertainment. Many others have come into these threads with a much different approach. dismissing cases like this as outliers, which they are, reassuring us that the vast majority of people that consume content like this aren't going out and murdering people, (a point I agree with).

The Matrix (1999)

All this talk of trenchcoats and algebra and Inception gives rise to a segue smoother than the one that Gob Bluth rides. Yes, The Matrix, the film that has inspired 9 in every 10 people to attempt ad-lib “reenactments” (which in actuality more closely resemble a flailing, bat-raping tortoise), has also played a pivotal role in several murder cases. Aside from the coats worn by Loukaitis, Harris, Klebold (which resemble the stylized coats worn by the protagonists in The Matrix), its philosophical premise that our reality is not real but rather a virtual program was internalized by several killers as a truth. By their logic, any people who were killed were not real people. After dismembering his landlady, Swedish exchange student Vadim Mieseges told police that “he’d been sucked into the Matrix”. Tonda Lynn Ansley also killed her landlady, but believing herself to be in the Matrix, likened the killing to a dream. Both of these killers were found to be insane. Perhaps the most notorious murderer to attempt to mount a plea based on The Matrix’s influence was Lee Boyd Malvo, the teenager who assisted John Allen Muhammad in the 2002 Washington sniper attacks. Malvo told psychiatrist Dewey Cornell that he had watched The Matrix “more than 100 times” and this in conjunction with Muhammad’s indoctrination was raised by the defense as grounds for insanity. The defense was unsuccessful: Malvo was sentenced to life without parole.
