While I understand that gender and sex are different things... the problem is that they are generally understood as being the same (on the surface). For example, bathroom designations are based on sex, right?... or wait, are they based on gender? You could say either one and most people would assume that it's based on being male vs. female (biologically). The media and some of the members of these communities with agendas try to blur these lines and accomodate "gender" choices by influencing laws and policies that have been historically understood to be based on sex (and not gender). I'd be willing to bet that most people don't even know the difference between sex and gender.

Things that are separated by sex were never meant to separate people by how they "feel"... they were separated based on biological differences. You can't implement laws and policies (except for maybe general non-discriminatory ones) for things like gender because it's too fluid and too easy to manipulate. I could identify as one thing one day and then change my mind the next day to reap the benefits of whatever it is with which I'm identifying.
