These verbal agreements, and this dumbass moratorium period needs to go by next summer. Silver needs to fix this

Dallas proceeded moving forward thinking they had Deandre signed. They inked Wes Matthews, made trades to make this possible. Can completely alter the course of their franchise

Not to mention one big signing sets into motion a domino effect with other signings around the league

I know it's for good fukkery and it's great seeing Cuban get screwed... but nah

Reflects poorly on the league period

It's not like this is the first time something like this has happened, Boozer did the same thing to Cleveland in 04 :manny:

With the Boozer thing, he was a restricted FA at the time and this was before the Gilbert Arenas provision took place. If you're thinking the teams could have matched, I don't think that was the case then and teams could just outbid you if you they were a 2nd round picks, like both of them were.

I'm almost surprised it hasn't happened more often. Giving these guys a whole week to let them think about it and renege on a verbal contract. This really is grounds for a lawsuit if Cuban wants to take it there. Verbal agreements can be legally binding...

If you want to be basic about it, sure. Go read the full details, it wasnt quite the same thing

It wasn't the exact same circumstances but when it boils down to it, he verbally agreed to sign with a team and then backed out and went to another just like DeAndre is doing.

I agree that they could do away with the waiting period though :manny:

He gonna try to force DeAndre to play there? Doubt that would create a good environment
