These verbal agreements, and this dumbass moratorium period needs to go by next summer. Silver needs to fix this

Dallas proceeded moving forward thinking they had Deandre signed. They inked Wes Matthews, made trades to make this possible. Can completely alter the course of their franchise

Not to mention one big signing sets into motion a domino effect with other signings around the league

I know it's for good fukkery and it's great seeing Cuban get screwed... but nah

Reflects poorly on the league period

The direction of the mavs franchise has been literally destroyed today

its a wrap for us... a fukkin wrap

Kinda like the direction of the Lakers was completely altered after Cuban helped spearhead The Veto. He deserves to get fukked over to see how it feels. :stopitslime:

Had a bunch of players expecting to move and have the rug pulled out from under them. fukking Odom still hasn't recovered from it after he made the Lakers trade him anyway and Pau wasn't the same either.

I disagree, verbal agreements are just that verbal. It's Dallas fault for not continuing to convince him. He should have the right to back out of a verbal agreement . The reason why their is a moratorium is because it allows teams to bid for RFA without losing out on UFAs

@Brozay the actual reason for the moratorium period is that teams used to circumvent july 1st to start FA signing. So its because they dont want teams start negotiating with players ahead, and have this full week that they're able to discuss TERMS of deals, not agreeing to anything. That's the rule.

It's not a verbal commitment or written.. they're allowed to discuss terms of contracts.

Also, they're figuring out the cap for the next season during the moratorium period.. so terms of deals cannot be fully guaranteed to anyway.. For instance, a max salary would be different based on what the cap is.. since it's a % of the cap.
