I kinda agree but if you look at their playlist it reads like
Rick Ross-38
Nicki Minaj-31
Kanye West-37
Lil Wayne-32
2Chainz-37
Young Jeezy-36
Jay-Z-48
How much of a youth driven genre is mainstream hip hop really in 2014?
Kanye 37?

Yeah he was born in '77...Kanye 37?![]()
LOL@ the false Jay Z age. Your hate for that man knows no bounds. With the exception of Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift, most true SUPERSTARS in music today are in their 30s or almost 30 (Katy Perry turns 30 this year). Drake is outlier realistically. The next generation hasn't taken over yet.I kinda agree but if you look at their playlist it reads like

Lmao he's been relevant for damn near 15 years how old did you think he was when he started? 12?Kanye 37?![]()
I haven't been paying attention to other genres but thats interesting...I've been asking people to name the Top 25 Rappers Under The Age of 25 for the past 3 years and still haven't got an answer..With the exception of Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift, most true SUPERSTARS in music today are in their 30s or almost 30 (Katy Perry turns 30 this year). They're just bland. It's really that simple. @tru_m.a.c stated this before. Just about all of these guys rap at the same level and they're not that engaging. They sell more because of people identifying with them as a person and what they supposedly stand for than some otherworldly crossover talent. Music has never been just about what you say, but it's about "how you say it." They're not saying anything that's mind blowing or in an engaging way. They're chasing yesterday's legends and it's a movie most of us have seen before. Nothing about them scream superstar. There's nothing we feel we "have" to hear aside from the guys who are established stars that have had our ears for years. It's like the current crop have tenure and there isn't such a large influx of new talent that you'd want them to move on.I haven't been paying attention to other genres but thats interesting...I've been asking people to name the Top 25 Rappers Under The Age of 25 for the past 3 years and still haven't got an answer..
What is the next generation waiting for? Or are the days of superstar music artists just finished?
seems like the older artists were able to depend on the labels to get their movement going, but the younger artists no longer have this luxury as they now have to find investors or sponsors on their own to build their movement before the record label will even pay attention....in the meantime you have subpar artists like mac miller taking up space in the game simply because he has investors like donald trump to keep him going while other talented artists who are trying to get their movements going only have access to "street loans" to help with their movements which are obviously unstable butI haven't been paying attention to other genres but thats interesting...I've been asking people to name the Top 25 Rappers Under The Age of 25 for the past 3 years and still haven't got an answer..
