before you start panicking. Americans spend $2-$3 Trillion per year on health insurance. That's $20-$30 Trillion per decade on health insurance alone. Bernie's tax plan, which will cost $15 Trillion per decade, includes making college tuition free, universal healthcare, and an infrastructure bill that will create 13 million jobs. So do the math. For half of what Americans pay for health insurance, they'll be getting healthcare, free college tuition, and better infrastructure. Bernie's tax plan makes too much sense!
I can't trust this like I can't trust any other government proposals in the USA...its just infinitely more expensive than any estimates.

So if Bernie is quoted by conservatives as being 15T? Might as well be 30T. Comfortably. :whew:

got any links for that nam tuition thing? I've heard something like that before tho..
I would admit it's speculative in this case, based in observation of tuition patterns, but the GI Bill holds some easter eggs. Why wouldn't Nixon or Ford want educated solders who could contribute to the economy after serving?
"In the next decade, efforts were made to increase veterans’ benefits. Congress succeeded, often in the face of fierce objections from the fiscally conservative Nixon and Ford Administrations, to raise benefit levels.[citation needed] In 1967, a single veteran’s benefits were raised to $130 a month; in 1970 they rose to $175; under theReadjustment Assistance Act of 1972 the monthly allowance rose to $220; in 1974 it rose to $270, $292 in 1976, and then $311 a month in 1977.""

Bernie has a full debate to discuss this and not be a p*ssy. He can't hmm and haw and try to be fake humble.. If he wants to win this election (and we NEED him to), his team has to be in the infowars, and any opening should be used to attack the media and misinformation, lack of context out here. To me he's a p*ssy, because he doesn't want to damage the party.

This is a complete contrast election for the soul of the Democratic party. If he doesn't feel that way, stop wasting everyone's time and get the fukk out right now. We're losing a lot of credibility arguing for this p*ssy.
I would love him to outright call out the mainstream press bias and its misinformation used to combat any kind of change.

University of California system was tuition free for residents until the 70's.

The history of UC tuition since 1868 | The Daily Californian

1968: Registration fee for all students is $300 per year. Nonresident tuition is $1,200 per year. Tuition is still free for all California residents.
1970:
In a symbolic move away from free tuition for residents, students must now pay an additional “educational fee.” The fee is $150 per year for undergraduate students and $180 per year for graduate students.
1974: The state funds approximately 32 percent of the total UC budget.
1975-76: Annual tuition and fees for resident UC undergraduates total $630. Annual tuition and fees for nonresident UC undergraduates total $2,130.
1985-86: Annual tuition and fees for resident UC undergraduates total $1,296. Annual tuition and fees for nonresident UC undergraduates total $5,112.
1995-96: Annual tuition and fees for resident UC undergraduates total $4,354. Annual tuition and fees for nonresident UC undergraduates total $12,053.
2004-05: The state funds approximately 16 percent of the total UC budget.
2009: The UC Board of Regents votes to increase tuition by 32 percent, pushing annual costs to more than $10,000. UC students protest by occupying buildings.
2011:
For the first time, the total amount UC students pay in tuition exceeds the amount of funding the UC system receives from the state.
2011-12: Annual tuition and fees for resident UC undergraduates total $14,460. Annual tuition and fees for nonresident UC undergraduates total $37,338.

It's not that hard. Trump does it constantly, and doesn't put up with any bullshyt. It is just two people. Bernie needs to just take each question and pivot back to mistatements and finally call out the slanted game that the establishment wants to perpetuate because they're scared of his plans. His supporters do it constantly for him. We can't convince that many people. He has to hammer this, without seeming too frustrated.

Or whose grandparents and parents won't tell them that a lot of their care and tuition was subsidized before Nixon/Reagan? You think costs were THAT low only 30 years ago? :camby:

Students got punished for Vietnam, as well as teachers, and Nixon failed on health care.
Ehh, a democratic congress wouldn't let Nixon implement RomneyObama care type Healthcare. .also for profit schools like University of Phoenix started to be eligible for title 4 Pell grants and loans via the 1972 Higher Education act...that's what shifted the higher education market, not Vietnam backlash
