Kevin averaged 24.0/18.7/5.0/1.7/1.7 in that series. :beli:

in addition to being the best defensive player on the floor.

I also love how when the topic of Dirk comes up people conveniently leave out the fact that he played with Steve Nash.

You gotta be trolling with this bullshyt...

It's WELL known that KG was never surrounded by talent in Minnesota. That front office KG was playing under was one of the worst in league history.

Plus the best coach he played under during that stint was fukking Flip Saunders.

Cuban has done a great job of keeping talent around Dirk and the worst coach Dirk played for was Avery Johnson (who's still better than Flip Saunders).

KGs talent in Minny is sorely underrated. Prolly didn't have a championship cast (save 04) but he certainly had talent around him. Dirk always had talent too. I am tired of nikkas acting like he single-handedly carried scrubs to that title in 11. It comes down to whether you prefer great defense or great offense. Also lets not act like KG was always dominating on defense, that is something he grew into. Much like Dirk grew into being a force in the post. Can't deny Flip being a shytty coach though. That doesn't excuse KG from being allergic to the post throughout his career though. Dirk's runs in 06 and 11 > than any individual playoff runs KG has ever put up. I would probably take Dirk by a slim margin.

KG had a couple guys here and there but never for long period of time (again that shytty front office and some horrible luck).

I'd say Dirk easily had better talent around him throughout the years. He only played with another All Star once but Dirk consistently played with some of the better role players in the league.

And I'm not saying KG has always been a defensive monster, but we're talking about the post Jordan Era (that stint with the Wizards don't count). During that time KG WAS a dominant defender.

As for comparing their weaknesses.....I think it's more than fair to say KG is significantly better offensively (even now) than Dirk has ever been defensively.

BUT U GOT fakkitS TALKING ABOUT GOD DAMN IVERSON AND DURANT? :comeon:

Durant is a much better defensive player than A.I. or Nash.

Durant is actually an underrated defender IMO.

Nash has consistently been one of the worst defenders in the league throughout his career. A.I. could defend well when he wanted to but he gambled WAY too often.

My only issue with KG was where was that offense when his team needed it the most? When shyt is even or close to it, great players are supposed to take over and make the difference. When has KG done this? I am not talking about being overmatched and the other team is just clearly superior. I am talking about when shyt was close. Dirk has shown me that he can be that guy in a situation like that. He took over against the Spurs, the Lakers, the Heat in series that could have gone either way. Even in the series from 02 that has been mentioned. What good did KGs D against an absolutely obscene Dirk? Outside of game 7 against SAC I can't think of another time when KG stepped up and was the difference.

Wait, Dirk is better than KG but Kidd > Nash because nash don't play defense? Dirk and Nash are equally non-existent on the defensive end.

how is that retarded..a chucker is someone who will take traditionally "terrible" shots and does not have good shot selection...durnt fits in both these categories...yet is still a 47 % career shooter.

therefore he's an efficeint chucker

Durant is not a chucker, and he does not take traditionally terrible shots. He'll even tell you himself he studies his game and dismisses bad shots from his repertoire. His shot selection is excellent. What the hell are you talking about? :russ:

Durant has hired his own analytics expert. He tailors workouts to remedy numerical imbalances. He harps on efficiency more than a Prius dealer. To Durant, basketball is an orchard, and every shot an apple. “Let’s say you’ve got 40 apples on your tree,” Durant explains. “I could eat about 30 of them, but I’ve begun limiting myself to 15 or 16. Let’s take the wide-open three and the post-up at the nail. Those are good apples. Let’s throw out the pull-up three in transition and the step-back fadeaway. Those are rotten apples. The three at the top of the circle — that’s an in-between apple. We only want the very best on the tree.”

Yeah KG consistently does that shyt that people have shytted on Lebron and Durant for...

Dirk is definitely a better big time/clutch Player than Durant, but I can't overlook how horrible Dirk is as a defender. I mean it's been a recent thing that he's even become a decent defender.

As for Dirk/KG, One of my all time favorite Playoff ethers was in 2002 1st round Mavs vs Twolves. I remember literally everyone around me going into to that series was saying things to the effect of

"KG>>>>>>>>>>Dirk"
"Dirk is a soft jumpshooter(which is ironic because Thats exactly what KG is just not good at it as Dirk of course)
"KG is going to shut down and embarrass Dirk"

Well then the actual series played out :laff::laff::laff: Dirk flat out dominated KG and swept his ass out of the Playoffs

33/15.7 on 53% from the field/72% from 3:huhldup:. But then people said "But But KG had no help".

:comeon: But The reality was Wally and Chauncey in that series both Averaged 20+ on Better efficiency then KG himself. That series was one of the many examples why dirk is better(the 11' Playoffs sealed it). Dirk can do things on offense Garnett just can't. He can carry teams and put pressure on defenses in the Playoffs In ways KG has never been able to.

ooohhh say it again say it again

this guy a man called hawk clearly has not been watching basketball long enough..

I know the Mavs rosters year by year by heart, the best player Dirk ever played with was Steve Nash, whom he took to the WCF and with whom he couldn't win a title with because the rest of the roster was pretty bummy, dirk took a roster where Josh howard was the second best player to the finals, took that same team to a 67 win season (and a dissapoint playoff series loss adminitelly) in the next year, and then took a team with offesnively challenged Tyson Badhandsler, an overhill Jason Kidd who we were criticized for trading Devin Harris for, An offensively limited Shawn Marion and Deshawn Stevenson....basically Dirk won a title with Jet Terry and Jason Barrea as his 2 and 3 best players..

KG, the same KG that Dirk has been shytting on numbers wise (playoff numbers wise as hell) throoughout the course of their careers
