Jesus Christ y’all are insufferable. If you have a job that doesn’t require at the very least a cert or BA/BS then you are not a skilled worker. I don’t give a fukk how hard you think your job is.

They pay more because if the labor it take to make the product vs the fast food. But at the same time I don’t care take your broke ass to school or learn trade if you want to make more money. That what the rest of us did

Here comes the “I did it so you can too” ass nikka

Geeezzz I’d hate for us to be right about this shyt. Is this the real reason we are just happy to go along with it? Because the rich give us scraps to help us mimic their power and keep us complacent. We don’t want true freedom or autonomy. We just want to feel better than somebody else?!:damn:

Artificially placing a higher value on scraps is far easier than tearing everything down and rebuilding. Cowardice is a huge factor here, cowardice + ego is how we find people defending things that are indefensible so it's easier for them to sleep at night and feel like they have some level of control in the matter.

I liken it to a scene in a movie I saw one time where a character called Smokey claimed he had mind control over a character called Debo. (Spoiler alert: he didn't)

Breh in most jobs working harder justifies higher pay. I can tell you never worked in a warehouse. Warehouse work isn't easy by any means. That's why a lot pay $22/hr.

Lmao you’ve never worked a lot of office/desk/corporate jobs. The higher up the ladder you go, the less “work” you actually do while your paychecks steadily increase. You learn that shyt rolls downhill, and a lot of the actual work is delegated down the chain.

This makes no sense at all because what is a livable wage? The min wage was created to give people fair pay for the job they was doing. Not give them a lifestyle pay
No it wasn't. Minimum wage was created give workers a liveable wage. Here's a quote from FDR, the president who instituted the minimum wage:

"No business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country.”

“By ‘business’ I mean the whole of commerce as well as the whole of industry; by workers I mean all workers, the white collar class as well as the men in overalls; and by living wages I mean more than a bare subsistence level — I mean the wages of decent living.

Problem is a "living wage" isn't a real thing. Government artificially setting the price of labor causes many problems for the very people they are trying to help, which is why FDRs programs were looked at negatively by people who didn't like the expansion of government power.

MW is just an arbitrary number that doesn't account for market forces, so while a few benefit, the vast majority get fukked over and locked out of jobs. It doesn't solve "the wage gap" because it doesn't boost someone's ability to increase their marketability. Even the idea of the wage gap itself is misunderstood and lots of nonsense gets thrown around about it.
