Thinking of getting a MBP before the semester starts.

I'll use it primarily to do papers,watch movies/TV shows, light gaming during trips (anything heavy I have a gaming PC and XBONE for). Prob will Bootcamp Windows 10 on it as well

yes, windows 10 was a bigger jump especially compared to el capitan which was more of a fine tuning.

As a daily home user of Windows 10, El Capitan and a few flavors of Linux, I'd be interested to hear what do you guys feel your platform of choice (OSX for @ridge and Windows for @Liquid) has over the other guys 's choice?

Get you a late 2013 13in Air from Braigslist for under $600 breh you can even get a late 2013 13" pro retina for around 1-200 more. Both will have the Haswell processor

my wife has the air. I can't get jiggy with that shyt. the pro is damn near as thin with great battery life, so I'm good with that joint.

The Surface Book is what you should be looking for.

Nobody outside of Apple does it because the Windows market has too much competition. Laptop makers are struggling to get people to even buy $600 laptops on a consistent basis, let alone $1,500+
