And they've also gotten swept or washed like 7th and 8th seeds have as well :mjlol:

Let's not act like the 6th seed has anymore chance of winning the finals than the 7th and 8th seed :russ:

Only one team has done so and that was 26 years ago lol.

-I've never seen a 7 or 8 seed sweep an opponent like AD's Pelicans did a few years ago either.

-If they're winning more first round series, they clearly have a better chance to win a championship.

North Jersey but I miss Cali :sadcam:
I am fine with that. You play 82 games and have the most predictable sport...there is no need for all those playoff teams. And no the 5-5000 record of 7 and 8 seeds isn't enough to sway me.

Don't stop there :russ:

1. Seed based on record and not conference.
2. Contract several teams that have no business being in the NBA altogether. One of the reasons why the NBA is so top heavy is because there are too many teams.

-They were a matchup nightmare for Portland. Matchups matter and you know that.

-You bring up one instance to support your point, when I can name others where the 6th seed got washed just as bad if not more than 7th and 8th in recent memory.

-Also still doesn't change the fact that the 6th seed more times than not has no chance of winning the finals more than the 7th and 8th seed.

Bro, 17 wins for 6 seeds compared to 5 wins for 7 seeds and 5 wins for 8 seeds is all instances I need. You can't make the Finals if you don't get out the first round.

Don't forget the Rockets making the Finals as a 6 seed in the days the top 2 seeds still had first round byes.

17 wins for the 6th seed, yet only one 6th seed has ever won the finals.

The 1995 playoffs they won didn't have first round byes btw.

I agree with seeding based on record. I don't have a problem with contraction, however that's not gonna change anything. NBA was top heavy with 8 teams. The nature of the sport lends itself to being top heavy.

And how many of those came before and after Round 1 expanding to 7 games?

From what I saw, at least 4-5 of them. They usually dont have a shot. Obviously the healthy Lakers this year should change that.

People, just enjoy it. Its a couple of games. I dont see the big problem with it.

It’s not a one season thing, it’s already been said that the owners want to make it permanent

I like the idea but I hope its not permanent. It should really only be for the 8th/9th teams anyway. 7th is too much.

If the NBA just did the Top 16, matchups would be:
(1) Utah- (16) Memphis
(2) Phoenix- (15) Boston
(3) Philadelphia- (14) Golden State
(4) LA Clippers- (13) Miami
(5) Denver- (12) Atlanta
(6) Brooklyn- (11) LA Lakers
(7) Milwaukee- (10) NY Knicks
(8) Dallas- (9) Portland

Damn, sign me up for this one instead.

I get the logic behind it (encouraging teams to not tank), but the NBA lottery guarantees tanking won't guarantee the worst record gets the first pick.

It's unfair to the 7th and 8th seeds as well because it forces them to play more games for no reason. The 7th seed can potentially lose and not even officially be in the playoffs (Lets keep it real, the playoffs don't start until you're in a 7 game series). This is nothing more than a glorified end to the regular season.

The NBA did this to make the last few weeks of the regular season more competitive, but the irony is that it already would be if they didn't have those two extra seeds as the races for the 7th and 8th seeds are already close.

And how is the revenue for those games divided? Do the top seeds get a share?

Lastly, it was assumed that last year the NBA did this to try and give Zion a shot at going to the playoffs and the Pelicans flopped in the bubble, and here we are again with the Pelicans on the outside looking in with no Zion.
Why are you guys complaining about more competitive basketball? You only have to win 1 more game if your the 7/8 seed while either 9/10 have to win 2. If it was a whole series maybe but come on with this
