By you logic why even bother with 8 seeds per conference and just have 4. Better yet, just like the media vote who they think are the two best 4 teams are like they do in college football and decide it that way.

There have only been 10 7th or 8th seeds who have won a 1st round series EVER.

Obviously, this season with the Lakers and Celtics, that can change, but its very rare.

Ehh last year's was fun, but I don't really see the need for it after this season. 9/10, the 7th and 8th seed aren't getting past the first round, so the reward for winning the play-in is matching up with the 2 best seeds in the conference.

I am fine with that. You play 82 games and have the most predictable sport...there is no need for all those playoff teams. And no the 5-5000 record of 7 and 8 seeds isn't enough to sway me.

Not sure what people are complaining about. If you dont want to be in the play-in games (7th-10th), be in the Top 6 then, and you dont have to worry about it. Simple. Usually, the 7th and 8th teams are getting smoked in the 1st round and they people complain 'why are there even 8 teams in each conference, the last few teams suck, etc' every year.

Also, they added this 'play-in' this season because there are only 72 games instead of 82, so they figured that teams would not be a separated with 10 less games in the season.

Last, for those who dont like this 'load management' era, that crap is here to stay for the forseeable future. I hate that stuff, but thats the new NBA now. Cats playing 82 games a season are done. If you get 78+ from your star, consider yourself lucky
