Word..white male entitlement was a thing even then..its why the riot girl movement was a thing..why bands like Black Flag or Punk music became a thing.Cobain is just a cop out for these cacs. They act like they were headed for world peace with him... Cacs always gon cac. The people who were into the grunge scene are probably still into gay rights and feminism etc..

I'm trying to remember when that exact shift happened...
When you look back at the decade, there are a quite a few critical events, but it's hard to pinpoint which event had the most effect on the American consciousness. There were so many...
First Iraq War
Rodney King Beating
LA Protests / Riots
Magic Johnson's HIV reveal
Kurt Cobain's death
OJ Trial
MJ accusations
oklahoma massacre
Bill & Monica Lewinsky
Columbine
Y2k coming and what it could bring
Had to look at X a lil funny for that call and response. From what I’ve seen most rock fans view RATM as a legitimately great band and don’t lump them in with Nu Metal, especially since they first popped off in the early 90s
As more of a hip hop fan, to me what separates Rage from other rap rock groups is that they actually seemed to embrace and understand the pure essence of hip hop at its best. Like Tom Morrello would emulate a DJ scratching with his guitar while Zack’s lyrics were actually conscious and pro Black, rather than him just copying the over the top macho shyt like Fred Durst was doing
But yeah, I made a thread awhile back about how most of RATM’s white fans, especially the conservative ones, likely didn’t pay attention to or understand their lyrics. A bunch of white frat boys moshing to Malcolm X and Black Panther quotes is hilarious to me
shyt nsync went plat the first day or some shyt I think..
Or I think 1.2mil in a week.

In the documentary they mention that Woodstock wasn’t the peaceful event that’s in our history books. It was also dirty, dangerous, and highly romanticized.Inspired by the preceding Woodstock where they were probably grabbing titties, raping women and starting riots under the guise of "free love"
It hurt me to see how old the Offspring now look. I was legit hurt, I know I’m youthful for my forties but I pray my fifties won’t hit me like that. Yikes.No. Podcast '99.

All free.
Sorry I keep referencing the pod, but The Offspring performed Friday and noticed the crowd treating the women like shyt and said something to the crowd about it. Sheryl Crow kinda did too but the crowd would just be like "show your t*ts"
