After Paper Trail, TI was huge. Not sayin that the reason he fell off was because he got locked up but it didn't help him like it has done others. In fact other than Pac what rapper was really helped by going to jail. Wayne sold albums but his lyrics fell off even more than before.

we gotta separate the mainstream chit from the pack. when "paper trail" was out, tip wasn't the king of anything. he may have been all on the tube, but he wasn't seeing the likes of Gucci & boosie.

by benefiting from being locked up, im talking about popularity & buzz.

Erase all of the commercial songs T.I. had on the radio in '08 and you still have "What's Up, What's Happenin" and "Swing Ya Rag" (to a lesser extent) which were pretty big in the streets. The "What's Up, What's Happenin" song and video clowned Shawty Lo hard. Gucci nor Boosie had anywhere near the buzz of T.I. even from a street perspective. Gucci didn't have that type of buzz in Atlanta.

People can front on Paper Trail like it was this commercial, bubble gum, pop album. That same album had joints like these:

Show me where I said TI was the king ever. But to act like he wasn't at his peak when Paper Trail dropped is preposterous. Gucci and Boosie have never been as hot or as popular as TI. You yourself don't even believe that.

i never said the album was bubble-gum. no need to bombard me with links to an album that ive heard already.

he wasn't as big as Gucci or boosie on a street level down south by that point.

rap-wise he peaked at "king". now if you want to talk about mtv, tmz and all that type chit, then yea, "paper trail" was his peak. but that's extra-curricular chit. this is hip-hop.

and southern wise, there were a number of rappers ahead of him by this time. boosie & Gucci included.

At what point were Gucci and Boosie ahead of TI. This must have been some shyt that went over my head cuz I don't remember it at all. And where exactly has that being big on the street level gotten Gucci or Boosie.

Neither Gucci nor Boosie was anywhere near T.I. status even on street level. You must have them mixed up with '08 Jeezy and Ross. Wayne, Jeezy and Ross were the only rappers bigger in the streets than T.I. "A Milli" was huge as was Jeezy's Recession and Ross's Trilla. T.I. could be argued as bigger than Jeezy and Ross, but Gucci and Boosie weren't on his radar in '08.

And rap wise, T.I. had a monster posse cut in "Swagger Like Us". That song was big in the streets.

the streets IS hip-hop.

i'll just end it there.

and for the record, when speaking on boosie & Gucci, i was specifically talking about the south. i wasn't saying that they were bigger than tip on the east coast or anything like that.

hold up.

aren't you the same dude that tried to tell me that tip was bigger than jeezy in the streets?

lol. good night.

i never said it wasn't.
