If you can spend $199-$499 on a pair of headphones, surly you can spend $19.99 on a lossless streaming service or better yet buy the compact disc and rip it to lossless or lossy audio all you want. Put them headphones to some real use.

If you don't care about sound quality then Spotify and Google Music is great for streaming lossy music.

There's nothing wrong with having options.

Although, once you go lossless, it's hard to go back to lossy.

As someone who's used lossless files with high quality headphones for years, it's not a big deal at all, especially with rap and pop albums, which mostly rely on heavy bass and simple instrumentation. Even audio engineers have a hard time telling the difference and they look for very specific things in the recording unlike the casual listener.

Respect, to each it's own.

For me it is. The point of having lossless files, that are encoded well, is to hear the Dynamics of each instrument, and vocals. This would make it louder, and clearer, then lossy files. You might not hear it if, you just expect something out of this world, but, once those expectations go, and you are listening to the music on a good DAC, its no way you can go back to regular shyt. I just can't wait for files becoming 24 bit, 96khz, for sell. They are for sale now, but, its mostly other genres. Rap music listeners don't usually care about quality so I guess labels see no need to sell rap albums in high volume on hi fi music sites. Maybe this tidal thing will help change that. Imagine a dre beat using a file that came straight from the studio, and listening to it on a good DAC like Cambridge audio or a Sony hi res player, using some audizee lcd headphones or the new ones the are about to be released that uses a new form of planar magnetics. shyt would be lovely.

Do you have all music in world at your disposal on your phone? Do you have an app just recommending related artists, shyt you might like and on when you are tired of your own library? Do you have to waste x amount of hours per month on downloading and transferring music? Even if you only waste 2 hours per month you could work an hour extra per month and pay for Spotify+Tidal :sas1:.

People pay for simplicity and time management.
Why do I hop in a cab on Manhattan when I can ride a bicycle for free? :sas2:

I'm not really an audiophile so for me and my preference I use amazon. The interface is simple and its free. I'm not paying for the streaming service either. I'm on T-Mobile so my service is not all that great sometimes but thats the beauty of the amazon service I can download the songs into the phone or stream it. And yes they do give recommendations and playlists and mix tapes but I as a music guy buys what I know what I'm gonna listen to a lot of new artists I'm not feeling so listening to random tracks I don't do at all. Like I said before I have my SELECT albums/ playlists. If you wanna pay for a service you should get for free more power to you... :mjpls:

I feel good paying for music though, I can't be a thief forever.

Still the hassle of downloading and stuff, I'd pay 10 bucks to be able to not do that shyt.
E.g. I can work 39 hours and download/transfer music for 1 hour (low count) OR I can work 40 and pay for Spotify.

Majority of todays rap music is mixed poorly anyway and sound super thin.

Wtf you talking about it takes me 1-2 minutes to download an album over WiFi...:dahell: you shouldn't have to pay for streaming music you can buy and own. And if you do own it? Why stream???

I'm talking about downloading music on various sites. Then again I can only have what 200 songs on that Amazon thing.

Steps to play music on my phone in the old school way; 1. Find the album (sometimes hard for indie albums and songs) 2. Download it on my computer 3. Transfer it via iTunes and usb to a limited space. Or via wifi to an incredibly small space.

To go through those steps for the amount of music i listen to would cost me several hours per month.

I might be looking for a song and I might be forced to skim through albums to find it, do I have to download Bob Dylan's full discography, transfer half of it without finding the song, delete to make space. Tranfer the second half and delete while not having anything else on my Amazon thing?

I'm a student and 10 bucks is nothing for me, one less drink when I'm out clubbing. The benefit of Spotify is worth 10 bucks, for me and millions of people.. For other people 10 bucks might be too much :manny:
