Kobe averaged 28-6-5 and a steal against Duncan's teams in the playoffs. On 24 shots/game as the secondary focus for the defense.
Duncan averaged 25-14-4 and two blocks against Kobe's teams in the playoffs. On 19 shots/game as the primary focus for the defense.

Kobe won more series because he had Shaq on his team for 5 out of 6 of them, and no other reason. Everything about the Spurs' game plan was focused on trying to stop the most dominant player in the NBA, and everything in the Lakers' game plan was focused on trying to stop the best all-around big man in the NBA. That was one series where they both balled out. Kobe was guarded the whole time by a 36-year-old ready-to-retire Bruce Bowen and feasted. Duncan put up ridiculous stat lines, but that was the year his supporting cast started aging out (Bowen, Finley, Barry, Horry all ready to retire yet Bowen and Finley starting and Barry was their #4 scorer). And Ginobli had a shyt series. Parker should have feasted against Fisher but laid an egg the first two games. I give Kobe credit for shooting well in that series, but it doesn't define their careers.
