The arguement they use for Duncan as a center is like saying magic should be listed as a center because he's lined up a center a couple times his career

Duncan is a GOAT PF and is c/s by chuck as such

Duncan isn't a center. He played PF in college, was drafted as a PF and has spent the majority of his career at the 4 spot. Hell for each of the Spurs 4 titles he never ever played center. People need to quit saying that he's a center. He's played power forward this entire season

Duncan really didnt start playing the 5 spot frequently until the 08-09 season. Spurs had no other bigs and Duncan had to slide over and play center.

No.

He played C most of the time and only moved to PF when Wake Forest had Loren Woods and they did that twin tower shyt..

:wtf: Duncan been playing that 4 spot all season. As soon as they got a legit center he moved back to the 4. Yall nikkas expected Antonio Mcdyess to play center? The funny thing is Bosh is doing the exact same thing but i dont see anybody referencing him as a center.

I wasnt arguing whether Shaq was the better offensive player. He was clearly the more effective.

I took umbrage by you calling Duncan a solid offensive player, lol.

anyway, Duncan>Shaq

I don't think he was GREAT but he's certainly better than solid.

Duncan has only once cracked the top five in PPG during his career. He's a very good playmaker, but obviously not one of the best.

when I think of GREAT offensive players I think of guys like Shaq, Kobe, T-Mac, Nash, Kidd, and Dirk.

Duncan much more than Solid, but I wont go as far as to say he's GREAT.

Thank you. Duncan only started playing center when old ass Antonio McDyess and DeJuan Blair were the only other bigs on the team.

As soon as Tiago developed into a solid player, Duncan became a full time PF again

Shaq was a great defender when he wanted to be.

See 2000 and 2001.

He had trouble with the pick n roll, but that was it.

At his peak Shaq was much more dominant than Duncan.

At his peak Shaq was more dominant than anybody not named Wilt...

I don't agree that he was great defender at any point though.

Gary, Indiana
Garnett, Horford, Sheed, and Stoudamire have all had to slide over to the center spot for several years at a time in their careers. All of them are pf's tho. As is Duncan.

How did he play the majority of his career at the 4 when he was playing 5 after D rob left in 03.

I know they started stiffs like rasho next to him, but their closing lineups always was

Duncan
Horry
Bowen
Manu
TP

this was the case for both the 05 and 07 title runs, and when they added dice, duncan also played C. same when they started blair.

:what:

The point is he is playing in the 5 spot. It's about the coach and player making ajustments and doing what is needed for the team. The needed bosh to slide down .Carmelo played alot of the year at the 4 but is he a power forward? No.

Bosh is playing center though (at least in the Pacers series), especially in defensive schemes. It's why Hibbert completely shytted on him. He may be a PF, and may shoot from the outside, but he is the center on a lot of the Heat's lineups, on both sides of the floor. He's just not effective there.

No even after D-Rob left he never became our center. Up until 2009 SA always had another legit center to play next to Tim. First it was Rasho, then Nazr Mohammed, then Francisco Elson, and Fabricio Oberto. Tim only had to play center out of necessity

Just look up the Spurs starting lineups from 2004-2009 you won't see Duncan as our center anywhere

Those guys were al stiffs, Duncan was the one who patrolled the paint, controlled the paint and guarded the opposing teams best big whether it was PF(dirk) or C (Shaq), that to me makes him a center.

What? Yall got the PF position all fukked up. Yall been watching too much Dirk, Bosh and Garnett(pre 2008). A PF is supposed to do all those thing :wtf:. So because Bron guarded Drose in the ECF does that make him a PG? GTFOH.

I know I just meant thats not his natural position.
