That is beside the point. Her story may not be movie worthy, but it's ultimately the music that created her legacy. People are disgruntled because it was BS movie. They screwed up the story they had to work with.

What did you expect from a lifetime movie with a limited budget?

Missy should be grateful she wasn't casted as Cheryl Underwood, and got the nerve to complain:scust:

I don't think she expected Halle Berry to play her. I would say look at the movie (not worth it). Missy in 1996 looked nothing like the actress that played her. It's not about whether she looked better, it's because it was completely inaccurate. Missy wasn't skinny, didn't have long hair, and didn't dress like that during that era. On top of that, she only had like 2-3 lines when her and Aaliyah were closer than that.

It didn't have to be a theatrical masterpiece, but it was laughable to see the movie go from:

Aaliyah does Star Search (it moved so fast that it was hard to remember whether they showed the performance or the outcome)

Aaliyah gets a recording contract in '91 and sits on the shelf for 3 years

Aaliyah's worried that she isn't good enough and goes to Uncle Barry to see what's up

Fast forward to the meeting with R. Kelly with a fake version of 2Pac's Me Against The World in the background in what's supposed to be 1993-1994

People are upset mainly because of the casting. I mean the portrayal, actor, and the performance of Damon Dash was comedy. Same goes for the role of R. Kelly. The part with Timbaland and Missy was so small, they didn't even need to be in the movie.

I didn't say anything about a theatrical masterpiece you expected too much is all. The budget is why Zendaya dropped out in the first place she saw the production of the shyt and said fukk this. :scust: If you kept up with this you would know that I have no idea what people were expecting to see I knew the shyt was going to be garbage. :yeshrug:

I didn't expect anything. I'm not even upset about the movie. I think the whole thing was comedy. I went in knowing it wouldn't be good. I watched it as a fan of her music. Still, I get why some people (the people who were portrayed) are upset.

breh :comeon: she was getting top billing in movies, she was part of a crew who emerged with their own sound(granted she wasn't producing or writing )
she was getting awards and accolades before her death

That's why it's mind boggling that people claim Aaliyah was a nobody before her death. Like people all of a sudden started to like her music after she died. The only difference her death made was that she got a sales boost of the album that was released just weeks before she died. It wasn't like she went from selling next to nothing to 10 million copies after she died. That album was on its way to Gold before the crash and eventually went double platinum (basically what she was selling with her previous two).

Im just saying how they do a movie about a bunch of black people and cast all white or really light skinned people? :dahell:

ehh. missy was the only dark-skinned person casted as light.

the r.kelly casting is hillarious tho.

her death did way more to mold her legacy than her music.

what story did they have to work with in the 1st place?
