I don't get all this the industry has moved on from his "sound"..he isn't even doing his own sound anymore..he's doing generic trap beats like everybody else now

If you ask me, modern hip hop is a slower, more mediocre version of Timbaland's sound. You can play "Pony" and "Big Pimpin" along most of the popular shyt right now and it wouldn't sound out of place. I think all that trap shyt is confusing him.

what is this shyt?

On one hand, the atmosphere is interesting. But it has no groove. I have no idea who can rock to this track.

And the production on BAD :ohlawd: for a dude that old to be making piff like that . The creativity didn't die,it got stronger as he grew older.

If Timbaland has fallen off (if you're arguing that he he has done anything of note since Futuresex/Lovesounds), it speaks volumes of the caliber of producer that he is. I mean people overlook the run he had in 2013. Timbaland's 2013 would've been a career peak for most producers. "Suit & Tie" and "Mirrors" were big songs. The 20/20 Experience was the biggest album of that year in a year filled with commercial heavy hitters. Then you had Magna Carta Holy Grail, which was another blockbuster. Then there was the second installment of 20/20. Capping off Tim's 2013 was Beyonce's surprise album, which also featured his production. Hearing what Timbaland did on the production (along with J-Roc) on songs like "Don't Hold The Wall" (the crickets returned and that beat switch :whew:), "Strawberry Bubblegum", the second half of "Mirrors", "Spaceship Coup", "That Girl" was crazy. That's not even counting "Cabaret" and "You Got It On" from the second part of 20/20, Beyonce's "Rocket", and some of the production on MCHG. His run even extended into 2014 with his work on Michael Jackson's posthumous Xscape.

:childplease:

That First Timberlake album was fire. That Magna Carta was fukking horrible, and only sold cuz of the Samsung deal. The second Timberlake album was two good songs and a bunch of throwaways.

The Sorry Not Sorry beat he gave Tiller was OK, but other than that I can't remember the last Non-JT project he worked on that was fire.
