I just see myself buying every cd I wanna hear anymore brehs.

Streaming has been great to a nikka......I don't got to waste time downloading a bunch of songs and wasting space on my phone or pc.

I also buy music from artists like Cudi and a few others

Article is on point, if the main mission behind Tidal is compensating the artist more fairly, then why would they make the biggest artists in the world the face of it? Isn't Madonna damn near a billionaire? Only the stans will connect with that message. They shouldve had some independent and up and coming artist on that stage to make that case. But of course Hov loves the attention so that was unlikely...

If artists want more money from their work, they need to go talk to the record companies and take a second look at those contracts they sign. The streaming services aren't the reason the artists are getting paid shyt, the record companies are. The streaming services are paying out the ass for royalties, which are going straight into the pocket of record execs. But the artists aren't going to bite the hand that feeds them, so they'll go after streaming services.

Um if I am not mistaken, Aspiro owns Tidal which gave out 3% equity stakes in Tidal and kept a controlling interest of 50 percent in Tidal. Jay Z owns Aspiro, the Parent company of Tidal. You have a link where it says Jay only owns 3 percent of Aspiro?

LINK
Sprint and parent SoftBank have bought a minority stake in Jay Z’s subscription music service, The Post has learned.

While the size of the investment couldn’t be learned, sources said the deal values Tidal at around $250 million.

Just last month, Jay Z finalized the $56 million acquisition of Aspiro, the Swedish company that owns Tidal. He remains the biggest shareholder, sources said.

Jay does own the majority through his Project Panther company .

They should have put some "consious rappers" and some "struggling" indie rockers, and some "passionate true artists" who dont care about money just the art :rudy:on stage alot of the critics wouldnt have anything to say . The same people who cosigned Taylor Swifft , Aloe Blacc , Beck , and others who spoke out about streaming companys raping the artist, are now doing a 180 :heh:. ....... andd seeing kanye on stage didnt help either .This article is beyond retarded

"The argument Swift has been making is that music has inherent value; from her statements regarding Spotify to her op-ed in the Wall Street Journal, it’s a point she’s consistently made well. The argument Jay Z and his fellow stars at the Tidal launch (including Nicki Minaj, Madonna, and Beyoncé) are making is that they deserve to set the price point for their music. The supporting evidence for this claim? They want to set the price point for their music."

LMAO the message swift and jay made are one in the same

The Black Community
No an African does not.. Multiple people have stake in it. But hey, keep fishing for daps. And just because a black person is the face of a business venture doesn't mean they can't be criticized. If anything, the criticism will help out the developers to deliver a product the average consumer will be interested in at an affordable price.

Every app or tech company receives or has recieved backlash by consumers. Whoever wrote this article is a consumer just like us. The criticism is valid.

This whole post is excellent, but the bolded is top notch. :whew:

lol I better see you defending this shyt after your 30 day free trial expires. We're upping this thread every 30 days and if you aren't a happy Tidal club member then you gotta shut the fukk up...

The 4th of every month is officially Tidal/Ether Day. Show them receipts and prove you love black excellence as much as you pretend to
