Can anybody explain why they'd choose Tidal over Spotify?

I'm borderline Jay-Z stan if you consider the way I treat new Jay-Z verses/albums/features etc.

But I can't get behind this shyt. Madonna has like 10 fukking houses. And she's arguing that she doesn't have enough money?

I understand what you mean, but just because they are rich, it doesn't mean they should just be ok with being ripped off.

I think the point they are trying to make is that the majority of the profit from these streams aren't vanishing into thin air. Somebody is pocketing it, and if there was a way for me to get what I feel I deserve from it, why wouldn't I want what's owed from my art?

It's the labels. Spotify doesn't generate a profit largely because of royalties to record labels.

I can smell the cism but Tidal is wack b. More people want to listen to music for free than want to pay $20 to listen to Lossless. It's definitely out of touch. The launch event tried to tap into Stans worse judgement.

Jay does own the majority through his Project Panther company .
Jay Z may be the name we’ve heard in connection with Tidal’s new ownership, but today, the company unveiled a lineup of 17 other famous musicians that are also a part of the venture as co-owners: Alicia Keys, Calvin Harris, Win Butler and Régine Chassagne from Arcade fire, Chris Martin from Coldplay, Beyonce, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter from Daft Punk, Jack White, J. Cole, Jason Aldean, Kanye West, Deadmaus, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Usher.

And they may not be the only ones. In her opening remarks during a launch event in New York, Vania Schlogel — an executive at Aspiro, the parent company of Tidal — confirmed that the music service will be partnering with Sprint and Sprint’s owner, Softbank. But, in keeping with the light-detail theme, she did not provide any details explaining how. Separately, the NY Post reports that Softbank may be partly bankrolling the service.

Then what the fukk is softbank, who runs that and why did the original article mention jay-z only owning 3%???? :wtf:

the internet
I'm the last person to bring race into it….but shyt like this is fishy.

Im not sure its completely race based…but I would bet that rival companies pull strings to have stories written about this.

I remember watching a story on 60 Minutes website about how buying prescription drugs overseas (on the internet) is super dangerous, and how companies like Phizer go through extreme measures to make sure people are safe.

Guess who had a commercial on every break….Phizer!!
They weren't even trying to hide the fact that Phizer pretty much sponsored the whole piece :dwillhuh:

I'm continually trying to figure out why I should pay money for a service I already get for free...makes no sense to me.

streaming is beneficial to small artists as it gives them exposure to a large market, big name artists most likely don't care as the few thousand they get from streaming is peanuts to them which makes me believe they don't really care about paying artists properly just hoping it gets big enough so they sell it for a few billion to Apple
