I'm the last person to bring race into it….but shyt like this is fishy.
:deadrose: lol at THIS being the one issue that gets you to spot racism

And for the record I have no issue Tidal, I think streaming music is great and its smart to create a rival to Spotify

I just think that event was corny and stupid as hell and the way theyre marketing the service makes very little sense. Like the article says their angle is "give us your money becuz we are famous". They really didn't mention any other benefits

I never said racism doesn't exist…just that dominates the convo way too much.
(I'm still not prepared this is about race…competition is a bytch)

shyt starts sounding like feminist complaining on twitter (race talk).

I'm borderline Jay-Z stan if you consider the way I treat new Jay-Z verses/albums/features etc.

But I can't get behind this shyt. Madonna has like 10 fukking houses. And she's arguing that she doesn't have enough money?
:yeshrug:So does the billionaire backers of Spotiffy , pandora and beats , and unlike them these are the people that actually make the music. We ridicule rappers when they go broke "ha ha lil wayne is got jerked by cash money" ,"ha ha dame dash is broke what does he know" , "bwaaha ha nas doesnt own his publishing sony does" ":pachaha:hahhaaha master p lost his catolog" . but when artist do the right thing and take care of the buisness side of things and please there ffans at the same time it is still a problem :dahell: . I could have sworn people wanted artist to have control in their own distribution . nikkas were just high ffiving Dame Dash be a boss rehtoric just a few weeeks ago , what changed .... oh i know

They would have made more money if they would have came with a cheaper price.
And used less established artist to push it.

This guy didn't see racism in Trayvon and Mike Brown but Time Magazine critiquing Jay-Z is the type of bigotry he just won't stand for

:russ:

One of the few trolls I haven't put on ignore yet... He's just so committed to the fukkery that I have to applaud his efforts...

Is he trolling? Someone tell me he is trolling?

Besides that @Boesky , I actually think Jay Z's Q and A yesterday was good, but these magazines are all ignoring that: http://www.thecoli.com/threads/the-...ive-davis-institute-of-recorded-music.306634/

How does TIDAL tend to shift its current perception as a pretentious, self-serving platform for the musical elite, to one referencing the brand essence of being all and for all artists?

J: I guess by having a conversation, and telling people what it is. That opinion came before we even explained what it was — "This thing is horrible! … What is it?" You know? You never hear Tim Cook's net worth whenever he tries to sell you something. Steve Jobs, God bless, he had to have been pretty rich — nobody's ever said, "Oh, the rich getting richer! I won't buy an iPhone!" Yeah, right. It's not about being pretentious; again, this is a thing for all artists. You pay $9.99 for Spotify, so why not $9.99 for TIDAL. We're not asking for anything else, we're just saying that we'll spread that money to artists more fairly. We're not saying anything other than that, and we're saying that we're in a position to bring light to this issue. We're using our power that way. And of course there are greater causes, of course. This is not mutually exclusive — there are other problems, real problems going on in the world. We don't miss the problems; we try to take care of them all. Imagine the President: he has to take care of ISIS, gay rights, equal pay for women, discrimination — all at the same time! So, you can't say "You started this site when you should be out in St. Louis!" It's like, okay, J. Cole is out in St. Louis. I wasn't in St. Louis, but I was in the governor's office. Because, we can march all day long but if the laws don't change, then we'll be marching again and it'll just be a different slogan on the shirt, and that's a greater tragedy as well. Everyone has to play their part, everyone has to do different things, and it all has to happen at the same time.
That is probably as well as he could have answered that :manny:. I'm still not buying any of this shyt any time soon, however.

Yo . . Streaming doesn't seem like the future. It seems like a future of demise for the industry
how so? getting rid of the free service may increase payouts slightly, but you'll lose those who don't wan't to pay and there are still avenues to get music for free, so with increased downloading and fewer streamer, this puts $0 into these artists hands. how is this better?

i doubt that album/single sales will shoot back up if streaming stopped, and even if it did, artists were complaining about how little they make from album sales since the 90's. they can all really jump off a cliff at this point. no payment for their music had ever been enough...i don't give a fukk about them (especially the jay z's, beyonces, madonnas) whining about the value of their vapid music

Ayo B, just stop. Time magazine is EVERYWHERE. Jay and Kanye mention it in their rhymes. Its a pretty good magazine if you want to kept abreast on world events/politics, what people are saying about it, and even a little bit of pop culture. Time is read by intellectuals everywhere. Just because you in the hood, doesnt mean people cant read Time. Why does it have to be a suburb thing? Maybe you havent heard of it because you dont hang with intellectuals from your hood. Its not us, its you nikka.

No, it is the exact issue here. The problem with Tidal is trying to sell itself through celebrity endorsements and supports, instead of its tech.

No other popular app or successful tech company does this.

When Apple releases a new iPhone theh have developers up on stage talking that geek talk and then everyone is like "ohhhh the new iPhone has this, this and this"

All we know about tidal and the only offering it has is celebrity backing, expensive, for audiophiles and eats up your data. That's the general consensus and scoop.
Lay of the drugs the examples you used are mainly popular because of celebrity endorsements and popularity instead of tech. What was you on when you thought otherwise? Hell I love Apple and Beats and have both of them but lets not act like them being the popular cool things don't have a lot to do with them being the shyt. A lot of people say both brands aren't good as the competition but its the tech that's making them hot? Yeah you on the good good.
