Tips for gettin your vocabulary up?

Yall kno any good tips or resources to help get ur vocab and jus general mastery of the English language up?
Im also interested in idioms and expressions n shyt I suck at those

Read a Thesaurus...learning new synonyms and antonyms is an easy way to expand your vocabulary.
Use howjsay a lot to pronounce new words
Speak aloud to yourself

I have a word a day app on iphone that literally sends you a new word every day. By the end of the year, I will have a brobdingnagian vocabulary.

Even my laptop is dumb as hell because the spellcheck is saying that's not a word

Read books instead of XXL magazine all the damn time.

Buy a vocab book and learn a new word everyday or just do what the homie @-DMP- mentioned

It also helps to hear people use new words that you haven't heard before. Listen to some non-music, sports, or video game podcasts with some white hosts.

Make an effort to spell words completly. What you are doing now, you really have to stop most people will take their internet slang and apply it to their school work. Try reading the dictonary at least twice a week and practice pronaunciations

Just read a lot. When you do get your vocabulary up, don't be too sesquipedalian with your diction. People will give u a blank stare

But back to the OP, New Year's resolution should be to go through the dictionary and write down every word that interests you. Probably the easiest way, although you may end up with over 50 pages

Write more. When youre writing, you can take an average sentence and switch out a few words for more descriptive ones. From thesaurus.com or something
Im a big seinfeld fanif anyone has seen it they know the language on there is pretty descriptive. Also watch Stephen A. Smith.


Just dont be that guy who throws out big words for the hell of itknow the context of when to use them too

Yep reading books has really helped me learn so many new words.
I don't really get to use them, but i like knowing them. Especially if im reading something important oh and out loud lol.
