I thought this thread would be a good idea because lot of nikkas don't be fukking with the Showroom or whatever the shyt called. Also because I wanna know if anyone has ever driven on a bad Catalytic Converter? :russ: I think mine is bad but don't want to replace it because the shyt is dumb expensive to do. I get mixed messages when searching how long you can drive on a bad one. Anyone dealt with this?

I'm pretty good with cars, so I can help with some shyt ya'll might be going through with your whips as well.

Supposedly had a catalytic converter go bad when I had my 1st car (05' Lancer). Code came on the dash, took it to AutoZone or whatever, they said it could be converter or O2 sensor but that it's hard to tell. Took to my wife's people who her and her family done used for years (hood mechanic type ish), mf looked the car over and said it was the converter :unimpressed:

"naw naw its not ya O2 sensor, it's ya catalytic converter yung buck"

Aight bet, bought one off Amazon that fit my whip, take it to this nicca, he replace it and the code still poppin up. He pull the old joint out and look as brand new as the one I just bought :mjtf:

Mf hit me wit the "on 2nd thought young buck maybe it was the O2 sensor"

Took my shyt to the auto shop next day and now dont let nobody but the dealership touch my whips even if it is more expensive.

Check rockauto.com to see how much a cat is going for in your care.. You would be surprised you can get one reasonably cheap

You have 2 sensors...
Pre and post cat on OBD2 cars.

The first one gives your cpu reading of the efficiency of your A/F ratio.

The downstream/post one sends the efficiency of your cat data to the CPU.

Your code reader will show which o2 sensor is reading out of limits or tolerance.

A bad cat means absolutely nothing.

You just gon stank.

If it's clogged or melted however you have bad backpressure or fire.

Get a reader.

I just bought one, should be here today. My neighbor ran his on it and it’s the grille shutter. Looked it up and I can probably replace it myself but will have someone take a look first to see if it can be repaired or not.

Yeah, that is what I been thinking. Only thing is too, Georgia is a state you have to pass emissions to register your car, so I'll have to eventually change it.

What symptoms you experiencing that make you think the cat is bad? Power loss? CEL?

last month, me and my girl were coming back from texas and when we go to the parking lot at the airport to get my car, my car won't start up.

I remembered recently I had replaced the battery and opened up the hood and, found a pair of vice grips in my trunk. turns out one of the battery terminals wasn't on tight enough, so I used the vice grips to tighten that shyt up. had my car started within 5 minutes. my girl was looking me like 🥰 as if I discovered the secrets of building fires. :russ:

No, I have a scanner and the codes came back for the 02 sensor, catalytic convertor. This is my girlfriends car, and she said it would shut off when she came to a stop at times.
