I know what you mean breh, I'm from NYC no HBCU's and its looked down on here. So I feel you; but have you seen some of these other universities prices??. That's what I meant. But if you in Cali that UC system is probably a bargain so I can't hate.

yeah it is , but im almost about to qualify for Texas instate tuition . so i was looking at Texas Southern . gonna knock out a semester at this cc, then try to transfer .

Not sure about this. There's no question UMD is a better school. But Engineering is a very lucrative field. A little bit of a stretch here.

Lol breh, unfortunately HBCUS do not have a good reputation. So I don't blame folks like myself for transferring to PWI'S.

There are a plethora of HBCU graduates I know who cannot get a job post graduation. It's fukked up, but I don't make the rules.

transferring to a PWI was the best thing I've done college wise. I look at my homies- only a few landed engineering jobs, the rest unemployed, work in retail, police officers, warehouse workers or are teachers by default.

I don't have white friends or hang with white people. One thing I know is I've been getting job offers just based off going to a PWI. I've had three hiring managers pull my resume based off my college.

my friends and family who graduated from HBCUS say they wished they transferred. After all the fun is over ALOT of nikkas are left with nothing.

Meh it's all dependent on what good programs the schools have. I mean if you're majoring in some shytty major at a hbcu you're gonna lose. Hell you can lose at a pwi but at least the name will carry weight.

A&T has a decent business school and a great engineering program so folks from both have had lots of success. It's all about networking and shyt

Personally there's only 4-5 hbcus I would've fukked with.

Also plenty of pwi mogs are struggling getting their career started just like hbcu grads.

Eh, we're just going to have to disagree on this one. I know a female who went to Howard University and she became an Administrative assistant at BNP Paribas. She majored in communication and culture which aren't marketable majors; however she makes good money at BNP Paribas. So i guess it's just different views. I think I have some guilt for not going to a HBCU, maybe that's why it looks like I go hard for them.

Anyway congratulations on graduating from your university. I'm happy it served you well. But I must ask you honestly, you didn't feel alienated at your PWI?

FAMU Alum and some of the best years of my life. Being 18 around other young, energetic black kids like me was a once in a lifetime experience. Made friends for life. Met brothers from FL, Texas, Cali, Chicago, NY, DC. So many different types of attractive and smart black women...Carribbeans, Africans, AA, short tall light brown dark. The parties, homecoming aww man so many stories and it's good seeing my fellow black brothers and sisters mature from teenagers to adults which we all did.

Plus the most important thing I got my degree. I fukked hoes but I always had my academic shyt on point I knew how to balance it couldn't go out EVERYNIGHT but the sacrifice was worth it I'm making 6 figures and I love my career. And the funny thing my major was 40% non black but it's funny you still have blacks that look at HBCUS as inferior but my schools program speaks for itself that even non blacks realized that.

I went to high school with majority whites so going to an HBCU was an amazing experience for me.

FAMU was some of the best years of my life as well. I loved everything about it for the most part.
