Dinosaur league that stifles innovation. They desperately need their own D'Antoni to shake up the game.

It’s crazy a two goal lead isn’t safe at all anymore, this isn’t the early 2000s Dead Puck Era with the trap and refs being paid to do nothing (still isn’t great, but it’s a nudge better lol). Honestly, they should look at football and basketball with how they use motion and player movement. My gameplan would attack the weakest skater/defensive player with switches/mismatches whether it’s offensive or neutral zone. There is still levels of innovation to go, but as long as the retreads still be jobs it won’t happen.

It bugs me how defensemen are used offensively. It also bugs me that teams are committed to three forwards and two defensemen. I don't understand why the game hasn't evolved and someone says: "I'm just putting my five best guys out here and everyone will be able to attack and defend."

Or, if my defensemen attacks the crease, a forward might have to rotate back and become a defensemen.

Why are teams still adamant that defensemen stay around the blue line (besides a couple guys like Cale Makar and Quinn Hughes)?

Look at the dumbass Hiller in LA, if it was so committed to shorten his bench for whatever reason then try to finish off the Oilers in Games 3 and 4 playing your 10-12 best overall skaters and try to put the game away. Instead all that turtling and sitting back tired out his team and the Oilers got rolling to the point where they took control. Teams are using the 5 forward PP look and it works for TOR and worked for LA, so there is progress there.
