You good man. 660 is a good card. I'm rocking a 570 in my desktop and it's still chuggin. Nice thing is, you can always upgrade later and probably get decent money for your 660.
You're on that 3 tiers till upgrade philosophy I see you. :jawalrus:

GTX 800 series would be a nice upgrade for you.

You can simply change the resolution within the game to see for yourself

well setting the resolution to anything less than your native res will look worse (blurry), so it's hard to make a fair comparison that way

You don't even need to do all that. You can simply change the resolution within the game to see for yourself and resolution isn't the only thing either there to change. There's a bevy of options for that game. It looks beautiful in 1080p. Hell you can crank it up to 1440p but you need to set up that in the nvidia control panel but don't worry about that right now.

I wanna hook them up and sit back on my couch and look at them as I would normally playing. I know I'll see a difference with screenshots or looking up close.

I wanna see if I'm enlightened or if I still don't give a fukk:manny:

I don't have AC4, but wouldn't recommend trying to use 'physx' in that game. last I heard it was still a performance killer

You gonna be doing this on one TV?? Trust me, seeing AC IV running at 60fps, with higher gfx effects will look noticeably better. It may not scream NEXT GEN OMFG but it'll be nice. Even Tomb Raider on my PC compared to TR PS4 still looks much better @ 1080p.
Like for example this is TR running WITH Sweetfx(a post processing smaa shader injector with a bunch of different effects).

Same scene WITHOUT it.

The PS4 looks close to this one^^.

2GB card...:ld:

It's a last generation card...but properly overclocked...you should be able to play most games on ultra...

Your card still can't handle the big boy games though...Crysis 3 and Far Cry 3 will eat that card up...I bet you wouldn't be able to get 30fps on those games if they were just set to high...

I also wouldn't try to go above 1080p with that card...

Not a bad introduction into the master race though...you got to start somewhere:manny:

And if you got it for cheap and your PC can handle it SLI is always an option...

And as always there's more to gaming than just a good graphics card...games only run as smooth as your bottleneck...so be sure you have decent RAM and a CPU as well...CPU not so much but games are starting to take advantage of more than 2 cores now...

Nah not true at all. I had a GTX 550 TI running Far Cry 3 on medium/high settings at 1080P and I regularly got 40-60fps.

I have the same card, and it handled both those games fine on 'high' (I think both games have a 'very high'/'ultra' setting), at around 40fps

Would like to remind y'all its Thursday. But rt @MeachTheMonster even tho it ain't the newest out, a 660 is a good card. I still got a 580 in my box, next card will be a 78o ti when that price is cut significantly. Only fools pay 700+ for a graphics card so you done good brehbreh.

(I was gonna say something bout the one but its Thursday)

Yea unless you're a die hard enthusiast and you're rocking triple screen 1440P monitors, buying $800 is overkill. When I first built my rig I copped a 550 TI which was supposedly a old card but yet it handled my games fine. Even Crysis 3 looked amazing on it. I sometimes feel like building a old ass computer rig with old parts just to see how it fares up today.

If you are using a TV then no, cause you would have to go to 4k, and that would just not be effective...but you can get monitors that are above 1080p resolution for a few hundred...

And that depends on what you are comfortable with framerate wise, as you start to take a hit to framerates the higher your screen resolution...if you are only getting 30 - 60 fps at 1080p then i would not bother going above that...the game will look better but your frame rate will suffer.
