All it was government owned project buildings in the first place so it was to be expected, especially given that location

Not really what I consider gentrification if we talking cacs pricing nikkas out of areas. Those buildings were gettin shut down either way

Guess we gotta get our money up and gentrification wont be a problem.

Like i mentioned in the other thread i bought a house in an area thats being "gentrified" in the East Atlanta area. My goal is to eventually rent it to these white so-called "hipsters" that seem to love the area. Right now it's beginning to be mostly white but the schools are still bad. THe minute the schools improve im cashing in on that b!tch. As we speak my house, tho an older house, is 4 bedrooms 2 baths with a built-in deck in the back with a huge yard. Ive seen comparable houses with 3 bdrs and 1.5 baths renting for $540 more than im paying in mortgage (including taxes and insurance)

This plan is a good way to get paid off of gentrification in the short term but it's a bad long term play IMO. Most black folks ain't even on this level of thinking about it so i salute you. Ultimately tho you're gonna need to think of this as Financial Warfare and Generational Survival because that's what it is. Black folks don't have any sanctuary because we don't own anything. By selling your homes you can profit off of gentrification now, but you're just gonna be running for the rest of your life. But if you don't eventually start buying land and HOLDING IT, your children will be running just like you, just like your parents, and theirs. We're in this situation because our parents never bought or held any land for us and never started or maintained any businesses to pass down to us.

Do what you gotta do but as black folks we're gonna eventually have to start playing by the rules breh

I know exactly where that's at. To be fair white folks have always been over there, they just stepping it up. Kinda surprised at the asians tho :ehh:

Lower Bottom is a different story, white folks kept they ass in the FEW industrial outskirts (near west grand, on wood st, and pine st), or behind the west oakland bart station with the mexicans and artsy folks. Now they IN the hood for real. Right across the street from campbell village is cacs. Cacs on 9th and wood. shyt the house next door to my aunt's house was renting for 3800. Breh that's literally 2000 more dollars than my aunt's house rents for :wtf:

Gentrification is warfare

They built new apartments next door to my aunt's house. The rent went from 600-800 to about 2k. She passed recently. She lived on Henry street. near the old post office where they used to have side shows in the west. I used to sneak out to LB to see the side shows in the west grand and 7th area. You're a real Oakland cat, shout out to you. Gentrification is warfare. It's also cultural appropriation. They're doing us like they did the Indians.

I may or may not sell it. But my goal when i sell it is to buy others. Might not even wait til i sell to do so. As soon as I rent it i'll probably buy another.

And i have inherited land and property from my dad and grand parents. Tho they are all in Haiti. I do hope to retire there someday. + my mom has a house in Miami

This. This is called exploiting a situation to your benefit. Everything is an opportunity. Lol you sure you're Carribean? You hustle like a main land American. It's all about the flip game in business I think.
what is this supposed to mean?

Im an americanized Haitian. :russ:
I've been in this bytch (U.S.) since i was 16 so 20+ years now.

Not but dont get it twisted.Caribbean people are very much into land ownership. Epecially Haitians. Haitians are known for family members killing eachother over a piece of land. And by that i mean murder. Let alone a freakin stranger rolling up on our sh!t . Thus why Haitians have always made it hard for foreigners to own land in Haiti. You have places like Turks and Caikos where all the land have been bough-out by foreigners with more money. They have basically outpriced the locals out of their own country.

I be telling folks they need to keep they ass in the city. Regardless of the crime and resources....the suburbs are shyt as it pertains to infrastructure.

Flint is a good example of what happens when you are too far from the population epicenter. Flint is JUST outside of whats considered "Metro Detroit" and trust me it costs ALOT more to pipe water, electric etc to those places.

Those people who moved out to the burbs in the 90's and 2000's are feeling dumb as fukk right now and its only gonna get worse. But a part of me feels like "Thats what the fukk you get for taking your taxes and resources away from other blacks who really needed it."

Ain't even about gentrification really. Rent is skyrocketing everywhere. A shythole cost like 900 in a lot of places. You know new luxury upscale shyt gonna cost.
Bullshyt!

gen·tri·fy
ˈjentrəˌfī/
verb
verb: gentrify; 3rd person present: gentrifies; past tense: gentrified; past participle: gentrified; gerund or present participle: gentrifying
  1. renovate and improve (especially a house or district) so that it conforms to middle-class taste.
    • make (someone or their way of life) more refined or dignified.
You take a HOUSING PROJECT! which only caters to low income applicants and turn it into luxury apartments? That's gentrification breh.

I may be moving to Cali where they're done with the gentrification. This sh!t is a bit disheartening to watch.

I'm currently in between roommates so I'm forking out $1600/mo for rent. Ugh.

But yeah, DON'T BE POOR. Seriously poverty is the WORST thing you can do to yourself. If you're poor find someone who isn't and try to get your hustle on.

you're gonna be paying just as much rent out there in california as well. so unless u wanna move for the weather or a job opportunity, whats' the point?

That's what's happening in low income neighborhoods across America right now. What was done to Haiti is a crime against humanity. I hope your family is safe. I need to hit those islands and soak up that culture before it gets bought out.

I'd like to ask you a question. Why do you think main land Blacks aren't raised with the value system you were? Land ownership, fresh food, financial responsibility, etc.
