The first 10 are the top 10.
Only voted for Jordan![]()
I think this list is fair.Inspired by my man @BmoreGorilla who did this sort of thing for hip-hop MCs in The Booth. I thought I could apply that same concept to here since we're always discussing GOATs in the NBA and what have you, especially in light of LeBron furthering his legacy by winning a championship for Cleveland.
So what I'll do is choose a list of typical top 10 NBA player contenders and will maximise upon the poll options thereby allowing for 15 choices.
The 10 players with the most votes will make it to round 2, and then I will introduce 5 new players based on frequency of request in this thread to be eligible for voting. We will continue the process until we have a solidified top 10 based on general consensus.
Feel free to ask if you have questions about anything.
Remember you get 10 votes

I'm surprised by this tbh
Would have thought Kobe would be closer to top 5 territory
He's around my top 5
That's just not the narrative among the vast majority of serious basketball fans.
There's a reason he only finished his career with a single MVP award. The only other player threatening the top-10 with just one MVP is Hakeem, and he's only a borderline top-10 player as well.
There are a TON of Kobestans on this site. If it wasn't for them, Kobe would have done even worse. Most of Kobe's biggest moments come down to "was the second-best player on a team besides Shaq" and "put up 60+ points on 37+ shots in meaningless regular-season games against crappy defenses". Take away those two things, which have very little to do with being a top-10 player, and he wouldn't even be in this discussion.
Doesn't change the fact that he went through those teams.
You could argue that the year prior he took care of Bird and the Celtics and should have beaten the Lakers with Magic in the finals.
And then as for Jordan, 1988-1990 Pistons won all 3 encounters, then the Bulls won in 1991
The Detroit Pistons went through those teams. Isiah didn't impact their performances nor was he actually better than Larry, Jordan, Magic in their primes (I would argue he was at no point a top 3 player in his career) so he shouldn't be given an edge over any of them
IT was great, but he honestly has no business being in the top fifteen of an all time list
In this order
1. Wilt
2. Jordan
3. Kareem
4. Shaq
5. Lebron
6. Kobe
7. Magic
8. Larry
9. Hakeem
10. Duncan
If we're talking strictly skill and game, my list would look almost completely different

Some of these votes cant be reality brehs. Like, who actually left MJ off their ballots? What kinda nikka left Kareem off their ballots? Both Bean and Timmy should be ranked higher than Shaq, but have less votes? How Sway?
