He didn’t beat Mahomes, nikka had a super team basically
Football is the ultimate team sport. QBs not even on the field at the same time. Defenses beat QBs. I am all for acknowledging this. But what we arent gonna do is conveniently have this revelation when its a black man. Not saying you personally are doing this. But people (again cant speak for you) been talkin this Brady and Burrow beat Mahomes stuff for years. If they did, Hurts did.

Brady (New England) and Burrow outplayed Mahomes with comparable teams. The argument is that Hurts team was on some super team ish but I don’t abide by that because they wouldn’t say it if it was Manning or Favre.

Nah i don’t subscribe to that rhetoric, especially when it comes to Brady. But I also don’t like how people are acting like Jalen Hurts is some top 5 QB in the league because he has a super team around him. I’m not saying dude is bad by any stretch but some ppl gotta chill out

If people gonna say Josh Allen is better than Lamar based off win percentage head to hear, OK.

But, you have to use that same criteria to acknowledge the lamar is far better than Joe Burrow.

Burrow can't beat lamar to save his life. Not to mention Lamar has 2 MVPs and is coming off his best statistical season ever, and one of the best in NFL history.

Either, Lamar is number 2, or he is number 3. There are no other options.

Lamar is number 1

"For 2025"

It's a speculative list going into next year. These people always assume the slumps of last year get fixed and the peaks get brought back closer to baseline. It's the only explanation I can see why they'd put Burrow at 3 instead of 4, Herbert at 7 instead damn near off the list, and Hurts at 9 instead of 5/6ish.

Exactly there’s nothing wrong with saying it’s in the lower end of the top 10 competing with Baker and Hebert

So an NFC team is only supposed to have…

Best O-line
Best RB
Top 3 WR corp
Top 10-12 TE
Top 5 LB corp
Top 3 D-line
Top 5 Secondary (second half of the season)

That’s it?

shyt some NFC squad needs to hire you as GM.

Look i am from chicago and seen the goat team.
After you see that superbowl shuffle every week. Anything less is some bullshyt.

I really appreciate your commentary.
@klientel

Even our punter, maury buford was cool.

•Mahomes is #1 but he's in danger of losing that default position.

He's no longer the only active guy to play in multiple Super Bowls. Lamar has been the best player in football for two consecutive seasons, Allen and Burrow were better last season. He no longer has the best team. And the stench of him playing poorly in the Super Bowl, is not gonna disappear, since its now occurred multiple times.

I still default to him as #1---->going into this year. But he has to restate his case with a phenomenal year. He still #1 because he's still the greatest QB of his era, to date. But there's an argument that we may have already seen the best of Mahomes.

He's going into Y9, does anyone here remember Brett Favre? In his first 8 seasons, he went to two Super Bowls, won 1, was a 3x MVP, 3x 1st Team All-Pro, led The League in a passing stat 6x, and was widely regarded as the greatest thing alive, for multiple years running...

Favre's Y8 was '98; Pat's was '24. From '99 on, Favre played another 12 years, and was never the same player he was in his first 8 years. Still had success and great moments, but was never the same player.

The Favre Watch is on the table for Mahomes. He's getting really close to that, was awesome first 8 years, never the same after, line.

But for now he's still #1.

•I'm a Burrow fan, and while I generally think he, Lamar, and Allen are interchangeable, you can't currently put him higher than 4th. That's a significant error.

I personally think Lamar is the best quarterback in football, purely from a, who has had the best seasons most recently. He's been the best player in two consecutive regular seasons. So I'd have him #2, but bringing up his playoff games is fair, and I'm not tripping if someone puts Allen at 2.

But Burrow gotta be 4!

•I'm a Skins fan but Jayden at 5 is too reactionary. And let's just be honest here, #5 is fluid and the gap from 4 to 5, QB-to-QB, is a pretty wide one. The NFL has a Big 4 QB room right now. The 5th best guy could be anyone, and whoever the 5th best guy is, isn't super close to the 4th best guy.

If you want Hurts at #5, that's certainly arguable given his 3-year run. But you could easily make the argument he's not the 5th best QB. I like Goff and Baker more than most guys, but I probably wouldn't have either over Hurts right now.

My list going into this season would be:

1. Mahomes
2. Lamar
3. Allen
4. Burrow
5. Hurts
6. Padford
7. Goff
8. Baker
9. Daniels
10. Herbert

#9 and 10 are fluid too. I could make arguments for Purdy, CJ, Love, or Dak at those spots.

Swap Hurts with Burrow. You can't miss the playoffs in back tro back seasons and keep your spot when you have no MVP's or rings.

Jayden just beat Goff and Baker so bump him over them.

CJ just beat Herbert who never won a playoff game. He's only top 10 for looking the part. I'd put Love over him.

Problem with these lists is some guys are on there for accomplishments and some due to talent (Burrow/Herbert). People can't keep Burrow up that high when he's not sniffing the playoffs any year that Lamar finishes the season healthy.
