when I went to DC last summer, we stayed in arlington just over the river from DC. hotel was really nice, and so was the area. I liked it a lot out there. hell, I'd personally rather live there than in DC. especially given the difference in cost of living and it's proximity to the city.

NYC is HUGE. Everything is built into the air, thus more housing, lower costs (relatively).

San Francisco is small. They don't have alot of housing. They make just as much money as New Yorkers, thus the people with money have a bidding war over the available (desirable) housing which drives up the cost of living, whereas in New York there's more than enough.

Yeah, considering the area and previous prices. I used to rent a 2 bedroom apt in the same area for just under a 1000. That was only 7 years ago. Now, I'm having a hard time finding a place that's in my price range 1000-1250 that's not a studio. It's shocking to me because it's not NYC.

one bedroom rent in hayward is $1978 and it's because the high demand from silicon valley workers because of it's thriving nightlife and world class dining.
