one bedroom rent in hayward is $1978 and it's because the high demand from silicon valley workers because of it's thriving nightlife and world class dining.

'Renters are sobbing' as Silicon Valley rents rise $390 a month since 2012 - Silicon Valley Business Journal

"The only area that outpaced San Jose's 9 percent jump in effective rent (or the amount landlords are left with after any concession costs) was the Oakland metro area, which is catching overflow from tech employees who work in San Francisco. The San Jose numbers in conjunction with he Oakland numbers demonstrate how Silicon Valley's tech boom is changing the entire Bay Area economy."

I'm looking for places in Seattle right now. Places like Renton are asking for at least 1,000 for a 1 bedroom. And is not the nice areas of Renton either. It's ridiculous really.
my apartment (not what i'm paying) is advertising at 1600 for a struggle 1 bed...obscene

SF, Oakland and SJ are the premier cities in the bay area with actual nightlife and a host of entertainment options, what a shocker that their rents are high. u needed an article to tell u that though
where in that article does it explain why hayward rent (which nobody here could find on a map) is approaching 2,000$ a month?
and "tech transplants" are the reason why rent is over 2000$ in livermore which is 40 miles from oakland and 1.5 hours from SF right?
"it's the tech transplants" :mjlol:

1500 for a one bedroom in manhattan had to have been in Washington heights or way deep in Harlem. I pay 2050 for a one bedroom in upper east side and it's tiny in a shytty walk up building :mjcry:

I currently live in West Seattle. You can get a good deal around Delridge and White Center area. I'm not even attempting to look at Admiral District. I know it's out of my budget.

Learn about the community in which you live and stop being willfully ignorant black man:

"The housing market conditions are completely out of control, with no real accountability to the people who are being displaced," said Robbie Clark of Causa Justa. "These stark rent increases, people being forced to move far away and commute longer - these are not signs of healthy communities."

Keep thinking "entertainment" and "nightlife" are what is dictating rent hikes. :mjlol:
