Fair enough dude, could easily be a function of me relating more towards British culture (even though I didn't grow up there) more than American. You said it and you’re wrong.![]()
It's just that for me when I see gun violence in Top Boy, knowing how it is virtually impossible to get a gun in the UK, it really strikes me. The stakes are raised and everytime I see a gun in the show, never mind it being fired, it strikes me.
There was even a scene where Sully tells a rapper going on about automatic rifles and shyt that he (Sully himself) has never seen an AK in real life, despite all the dirty shyt he has been doing. The realism just takes it for me
.
but even on just the street level ‘the wire’ still runs circles around ‘top boy’...but I feel you... @ times I only wanted the street shyt...it just simply wouldn’t be the same show (or necessarily better tho) w/o them incorporating those other avenues...only one I thought was a horrible waste of time was the newspaper angle
First off, wait until the series is over completely before making that call and 2nd, top boy will NEVER be discussed to such a critical level that the wire is discussed on its youtube clips..the wire was a complex and deep show..top boy is amazing but the wire has too much depth..
