Yooooo, I was choppin it up with my homie about this exact thing. We were sayin that the only thing Lux can do at this point is come back grimey and goonish. Basically the "old Lux" the lions den lux.

We all knew that lux was gonna be on that preachin shyt and nikkaz have grown tired if that angle

Yea lux problem now is he talks at you not to you.

Yes the calico battle was a masterpiece but he keeps trying to go the informed brother on the street corner route and it's just not entertaining anymore

Lyrically I appreciate what he's doing but it doesn't make for good battle rap or it didn't last night at least

Agreed he needs to come back on some gray hoodie lionz den jeckyl and hyde shyt, leave the preaching shyt alone and strike some fear in your opponents again

People do this every time there's a mediocre event. nikkas love to use hyperbole. Like every bad event, people will forget about it a day from now and when the next card is announced everyone will be hyped. Look how nobody gives a fukk about Math/Dizaster anymore and everyone 3 weeks ago was talking about that like battle rap might not recover and all this other nonsense.
People have to realize that anytime anyone or anything does something for the first time its not going to be perfect.

All they have to do is pay attention to the mistakes they made w/ this even and improve on them.
I know everyone wants to keep everything in "the streets"...but if these cats want to get paid, they are going to need to get a corporation behind it, and mass market it....otherwise, they arent doing anything but battling for cab fare, and a night at the club.

Im sure this brought new fans to battle rap...and the people that were fans prior, arent going anywhere.

Again, thank God they had judges. Budden did not win.

Hollow gets booed, hits THE CROWD with a freestyle rebuttal, then gets back in his shyt. (They cheer the next line.)

Budden puts the mic down :mjlol:

On no planet did Budden win two of those rounds.

The thing that blows my mind is the absolute and total lack of vision when it comes to an event like this, and that's what's so worrisome about corporate involvement. The knee jerk, cliche capitalistic urge to have "names" attract attention to an event is cancerous. Neither Sway nor Ebro should be anywhere near an event like this. They know nothing at all about the culture, about the individual battlers, about context. Smack might have trouble speaking in complete sentences at times, but his lack of "hosting" is a strength. Battle Rap does not need a fukking host. And even if you felt there was a need for a host, why do you get a nikka who can't pronounce his words and doesn't know his terms and in general has the charisma of rotting pumpkin?

The stage setup, the crowd setup, and the mic issues - outrageous. If you're going to pump money into advertising the event, you can't assemble a staff to do something as basic as spending a few days researching battle rap via youtube and figuring out what has historically worked best? Then configure the venue for an optimal experience? This is not that fukking difficult.

On another note, I have no idea how Daylyt is still amusing some of y'all. He won me over when he put together a string of dope battles, but at this point I have zero interest in ever seeing this lame nikka battle again. Dressing up in clown suits and pulling paper poop caricatures out of his boxers isn't fukking provocative, conceptually intriguing, dope, quilliant, or anything else except loserish and stupid. I hope a blood shoots him a drive-by.

Thank you. These nikkas paid Budden 200 fukking racks, but couldn't have mics that didn't fukk up? I couldn't hear Big T, Lux or Day for the majority of their battles. The mainevent mic issues were a complete embarrassment

and that Sway shyt was the dumbest shyt I've ever seen. Sway as a host? He doesn't know a thing about battle rap. Interviewing Mook and Lux every 5 months doesn't mean you know what's going on. I'm convinced Sway never saw a modern day battle before that night. And I fukks with Kay Slay but WTF was his purpose? He literally did nothing. He just stood there while they rapped. Ref?? WTF you mean ref? He didn't even call time, Sway did.

Why was Ebro there? Why do we need commentators? Or even Judges for that matter? The appeal of battle rap is the debates. And the set up had it like it was gladiators in the Coliseum. The whole set up was wack as hell.

For all we know Shady could've tried to partner up with url for this event and url declined for whatever reason.

I know slaughterhouse are big url fans so it's a realistic possibility.

Like someone said a while ago, 1st event..let em work out the kinks. next time less mainstream folks and a smaller stage..i'm fine with no one else on the stage, a true performer like Arsonal gets range to actually perform

Unless somebody shows me proof. I'm just going to assume Buddens is lying.

I agree with the set up. In smack and all those league., The battlers their entourages and crowd all feel part of the show. Here It was just the two people and it took alot of the energy.
