The games are already being built and downgraded to ps4. Nothing will change on that front. High end enthusiast hardware has always existed.

Ps360 games didn't suddenly go down in quality when X1 and Ps4 came out.
This is how console generations work. Consoles are closed box fixed hardware and as the generation progresses developers only have that spec to work with so they use more and more tricks to squeeze everything they can out of those fixed specs. Some of the best looking PS3 games for example came out towards the end of that generation as developers got all they could out of that.

You're naive as hell if you think half way into a generation an console with a decent amount more power doesn't change things. People won't still get the quality of games they would have gotten anyway. Maybe developers will pull the same stuff they do on Xbox One and simply lower the resolution but still target the higher end PS4 or even worse.

There's reasons for people to be cynical. Have you seen the crap companies pull in this industry? Knowingly putting out broken and sub-par games with the attitude of people will buy it anyway or we'll fix it later with a patch and worse. Game companies don't do anything to instill the level of confidence you have that things will he hunky dory and nothing will change.

I get that some of you want this. Hell I want it but at the same time I recognize that it's bad for the industry as a whole. It's like this. Rich people don't wanna pay taxes but if none of them payed any taxes there would be collateral damage. The existence of a PS4.5 brings some collateral damage whether or not you wanna admit it.

What about Xbox one titles? Are they lower quality because of the ps4?
:comeon: You asking this, the same poster who mocks and trolls Xbox One players on these forums because comparatively their games run with worse performance and at lower resolutions.

I'm asking you if the Xbox One versions quality are a result of the Ps4 being targeted OR if it's because that's what can be done on the Xbox in reality? I'm asking because the ps4/xb1 are very similar to each other of which the PS4K would be but yet you think a stronger hardware would somehow mean gimped ports. You're talking like if Ps4 disappeared tomorrow, suddenly Xbox one will be running every game at a rock solid 60fps 1080P.

If games were developed to target the Xbox One then you'd have parity on both consoles and the games would not take advantage on the PS4's strengths. Instead the PS4 is the lead platform and Xbox One games are ported down. Things get cut and reduced to make it fit.

Your rational seems to be developers will continue to make games the same way they do now and those same games will simply run better on the better hardware.

My rational is if that PS4.5 exist developers will make games that are more complex and more demanding to tap into that extra power and port down to everything else. The issue that the Xbox One gamers had will now exist on Playstation as well between 4 and 4.5 users. That dynamic on Playstation wouldn't exist with no PS4.5.

but the games are already being made to target more powerful hardware and then ported down to PS4

So why do Xbox one exclusives themselves still run have sub hd, lower fps despite being the only hardware.

This "Ps4 is lead platform" point is moot. Plenty of games are the lead and still come out crappy(just cause 3 recently).

Star Wara BF Ps4 was lead platform and that game is 900P. Lead platform doesn't magically increase power.

What more powerful hardware? Most games are made with the PS4 as the lead platform. In a lot of cases some other hired studio then ports that to the PC. See games like Batman Arkham Knight.

Even then they develop the game with the system's limitations in mind and use development tricks to compensate for it. They get more out of the hardware than they would if they make it for more powerful hardware then just ported it down. See Quantum Break.

The lead platform determines the development direction. Developers aren't going to spend the extra time optimizing the game for weaker hardware. They'll simply dumb the whole game down.

I'll put it like this. Let's say a person has a job get $15 per hour or whatever. They live paycheck to paycheck.

When you give them a raise and now they make $20 per hour what happens? Would they take that extra $5 per hour and save it so they no longer live paycheck to paycheck or would they raise their standard of living to accomidate the extra money and still live paycheck to paycheck while making 25% more per hour?

When people are given more the vast majority will want to use it. Giving them more does little to change their situation. You give these developers more power and they'll spend it. Your argument is that they'll do the responsible thing. My argument is that they won't.

Found the vid

:blessed:

Very interested, a little tight that my laptop doesn't have thunderbolt now, but will definitely keep this in mind. I will be able to put it behind my monitor and just use whatever laptop I want to go with it.

Will have to be a true quad core CPU inside though, definitely not a good idea to game with a U processor. They shouldn't even be marketing those as gaming laptops with a U series CPU inside.

Yeah I think it's just to market to those ultra books. But yes thunderbolt 3 USB 3.1 type c port is gonna be the future imo. And yeah the vid says its not proprietary. Intel, works with both nvidia or amd cards. Get a quad core laptop with something like this, be eatin good.

a 3 year console cycle is too short. 5 years seems reasonable to me. Consoles are turning more and more into mini computers, so I guess it makes sense, since most pc gamers change out gpus every 3 years (if not less), but it's not good for the consumer. It's gonna split the base, and people are gonna be pissed at paying more than $500 for a 4K capable console. shyt most people don't even have a 4K TV. I really hope Sony and MS wait another 2 years. The devs will finally be utilizing the consoles to the max and gamers will be getting their money's worth. Unlike pc gamers, console gamers don't like spending $500 every 3 years (or $1500 if you buy all three systems). 5 years is a good number. 8 was too long last time, but 3 is too short this time. Make the 5 year compromise.
I bet you will buy the PS4 NEO and XBOX 1080P before the 5 year mark :ld:

All you have to do is save about 37 cents per day and buy a new console every 3 years.

No big deal brehs. I like the refresh plans.

I've got about $400 in cash back rewards across 3 reward cards. I also have an extra PS4 and Xbox One to trade in so I should be able to get both for nothing or very little out of pocket.

I still think this is a bad idea.
