Why would it have to be $500?? I never get this point, PS and Xbox gamers been buying MULTIPLE revisions of consoles that DON'T offer tangible upgrades yet suddenly a better, tangible console that will most likely:a 3 year console cycle is too short. 5 years seems reasonable to me. Consoles are turning more and more into mini computers, so I guess it makes sense, since most pc gamers change out gpus every 3 years (if not less), but it's not good for the consumer. It's gonna split the base, and people are gonna be pissed at paying more than $500 for a 4K capable console. shyt most people don't even have a 4K TV. I really hope Sony and MS wait another 2 years. The devs will finally be utilizing the consoles to the max and gamers will be getting their money's worth. Unlike pc gamers, console gamers don't like spending $500 every 3 years (or $1500 if you buy all three systems). 5 years is a good number. 8 was too long last time, but 3 is too short this time. Make the 5 year compromise.
- Work with existing games and run/look better
- Not change anything for the existing owners of the day 1 console
- Be an option
You know how many nikkaz I've seen bought Xboxes and upgraded because it was newer?
We had last gen:

Not to mention the many special editions and whatnot.
What's the problem if one of these are simply upgraded internally?? The general consumer doesn't know shyt about hardware and whanot, they'll upgrade even if it was the same exact shyt. The guys in the bubble like us would know and we'd have a choice to upgrade if we want. The upgrade would be optional, like how someone can still run Windows 7 even though 10 is out.
I think the main worry is irrational in that people think PS4 would get gimped and have weak versions of games compared to the better model but who actually cares besides broke nikkas??
The PC versions of console games always is superior anyway so it ain't like it'd be different. The cats talking that "Will it allow BC?" don't know what they're talking about. it's the SAME console. It'd run the same firmware, same games same controller w/e. It'd be no different than buying a new PS4 and logging in and setting it back up.
