They will allow it. All signs point to even cross competitor platform play breh. Games will just be developed like they are on the PC and scale across the hardware.So games can be developed with the lowest common denominator in mind?
Would split online communities even further (assuming they don't allow generational cross-play).
It's a whole new world from what it looks like and I am pretty excited about it.

I wont mind it for this gen but I don't think it should become a thing, they should come out with more powerful consoles that cost more but last 5 or 6 years.

GTA 5 plays like shyt on PS4 so dont use that
the general public buys new phones, tablets, re releases of shoes etc every year they come out so how can you say they are happy with 6-7 year turn around for consoles ?
and most of those things I just listed cost more than consoles, as insane as that is. Long story short, the general public is dumb and will eat shyt if you present it right.

I've given this some thought and have come to the conclusion that if the Industry moves to this model console prices will see an increase at least slightly. Right now the current business model is to sell the console at or below cost and make money on the software. Now they are going to move to a profit day 1 model from console and of course making money on the software still. Now Sony has stated PlayStation VR headset will be profitable day 1. PS4 was profitable nearly day 1. If there's a PS4K Sony will have a nice profit margin on it and it won't be cheap.
I think that is important if they want a shorter cycle to be well received. although at some point certain games may not be forward compatible
a 3 year console cycle is too short. 5 years seems reasonable to me. Consoles are turning more and more into mini computers, so I guess it makes sense, since most pc gamers change out gpus every 3 years (if not less), but it's not good for the consumer. It's gonna split the base, and people are gonna be pissed at paying more than $500 for a 4K capable console. shyt most people don't even have a 4K TV. I really hope Sony and MS wait another 2 years. The devs will finally be utilizing the consoles to the max and gamers will be getting their money's worth. Unlike pc gamers, console gamers don't like spending $500 every 3 years (or $1500 if you buy all three systems). 5 years is a good number. 8 was too long last time, but 3 is too short this time. Make the 5 year compromise.
I'll probably be done gaming. I got a wife and a kid, trying to save up for a house, I got to much going on to keep up with that of they go to a 3 year life cycle

Question is will they give us bc in the way we want it? When you upgrade your phone or tablet your you can redownload your apps and have your same saves. Cloud is even better. If they just talking about inserting last gen disc like x1 360 bc they can keep that shyt.
