I sometimes wonder if political pressure has something to do with that.
I think homosexuality used to be classified as a mental illness for a long time. I don't think it is anymore...at least not in most countries. I suppose people could debate whether they scientifically decided that it's not an illness...or if the global acceptance of it has forced a redefinition.

And as far as transphobia and racism goes, I wasn't equating one with the other, but the attitudes behind both come from a similar place of hate and bigotry.
