What I'm saying is that artist put an emphasis on delivery, flows, Adlibs, melody and quotables instead of trying to force some clever lines that through off the vibe of the song
Isn't a clever line going to result in a quotable though?
And quotables is a part of "bars" too

There has always been "microwave" rappers and there always will be

Anybody can sit down and write double entendres, metaphors and multis but that's no their goal when making music

Oh ok, well name me some quoteables from Lil Uzi or Lil Yachty or whoever you like now, that ppl are gonna be repeating on message boards and twitter a year from now.

Microwave rappers in the past got clowned horrifically, nowadays it's accepted.

Even the microwave rappers around the time took offense to dudes shytting on them. To the point they actually tried to double up on their skills, even though the skills weren't up to par as to say a Nasir Jones, but can't knock the effort. These new gen rappers just don't get it and treating hip hop like it's a punch in, rather than a gamble.

But hey, folks are so quick to defend and welcome everything nowadays including 2pac slander, we may get an album where the rapper does sign language :ld:.

trap music never really changed in its existence, its just adapted to sound more modern - lyrically it's about the same and production wise too, so you're not going to get much variety

I think that's the issue. They have no respect for the art. There used to be a balance of money/art.

All the greats were/are about their paper....but still had a respect for the craft. Of the new guys, J Cole and Kendrick "get it"....I even think Drake "gets it"....whether he's doing all the work or not. At least he understands that you can't just put out garbage.

And no matter how much dudes like Jay act like rap was just a hustle for him, he has respect and a love for the craft.

These new dudes don't have that. Mainly because the suits putting them on have no respect for the craft.
