Funk the hood. I didn't come from there and I don't rep it. The streets are regressive. Nikkas are afraid to try new things and go their own way. Thank god more black youth are being themselves and not trying to live up to a violent macho stereotype placed on them by white people.

Rappin about hood shyt and bein violentg are 2 differen things. Hip hop is the streets, hip hop came from poverty in the hoods. You can't take that element out of hip hop

It comes from black people. We are everywhere. Being poor or a street nikka does not make you more black.

at the end of the day this is real life right now. The culture of the black youth is urban culture. You could talk all that noise about we were kings, thats cool and all but in this era the culture in black america is an urban culture with roots in the hood.

Mainstream aint and has never been the music. Street music is what we bang. Street music is the backbone. Mixtapes is what blew 50 Cent. You will never hear kendrick fukking lamar bumping out a whip in brooklyn, but i bet youd hear gucci 4x.

Early rappers were reporters. The new bred were actually proud of being ignorant killers and coming from fukked environments. Those are the real c00ns. Black people com from kings and queens. We were not meant to be street nikkas.

If you talk about anything POSITIVE like Chuck D, they will kill you. The so called "reporters" that silenced the black conscious rappers are just as guilty as the record execs. Hip Hop was created to ESCAPE the negativity of the hood, not to dwell in it and engage in it. Even many oldheads hate that "preachy" shyt.

If street nikkas want to bang Gucci that's fine. But don't try and act like people who don't want to hear that sheit are c00ns or trying to be white.

Im talking about the black youth at large.

Only on the internet do i see the support for rappers like kendrick, wiz, and them other hipsters.

Outside in real life people listen to people like Meek Mill, Rick Ross, and French Montana. but people in this thread acting like street rap is dead. Outside of industry plants, the street rap scene dictates who is the next hot rapper.

Until Ross and Meek Mill can sell and have a dedicated fanbase like Cole that BUYS actual CDs than downloading it, then they can dictate the direction. That is disrespect for you to "support" an artist and not buy their CDs.

:what:since when does album sales dictate who is hot.

Matter fact J Cole barely went GOLD. why is album sales even relevant in this discussion:russ:

Rappers do not care about sales anymore. You build a following off free music and cake off shows.

Matter fact if you naming Cole over Troy music you prolly a boring nikka yaself:flabbynsick:

Troy is very uninspiring that got caught lying numerous times about his street history. Plus Cole can hold down a show all by himself and still have a more dedicated fanbase. Hell, he outdone Kanye last year and he still going strong.

Having a dedicated fanbase >> having an early 00s image and make a poor impersonation of it.

Troy ave will be gone in a year. He is alienating himself with his attitude towards modern ny hiphop. No one wants to hear that 50 cent style of rap anymore and the ones who do won't actually buy his shyt.
