60k/200k indie is huge. Tech 9 did 56k first week his last album and 36k the one before that. We know he's eating better than most rappers on majors even with gold/platinum albums under their belt. They pocket more per album and with merch sales + touring added in. Joey's indie. He's signed to an indie label which is distributed by Sony Red.

dropping an album with Sony Red (distribution not a label) would be good though. i know some nikka i know got a 85-15 % split deal from them, he said they deals are either 80-20 or 85-15. that shyt seems good though forreal, and plus Sony Red sends shyt to mad stores that are in-store retail, online and sometimes mom & pop stores. that's the same as Ingrooves (Tech N9ne's distribution) artists get 85 % i heard
Troy Ave works with Empire Distribution, i don't know much about them but i feel like they send shyt online but never to in-store retail like target or best buy. mad people are with Empire like Sage The Gemini, Cam'ron, Trae Tha Truth, 9th wonder, Mally Mall. they probably get the same percentage that is given at other distribution companies.

Troy Ave did an interview on Hot 97 last year saying he was the highest selling/best selling rapper that's independent. Joey Badass tweeted that he sold 60k first week and how he's the best independent. They go into a twitter back and forth and nothing comes of it for a while until recently Joey Badass had that line about Kirk Knigt selling more than Troy Ave.
Smh in this interview he said they spoke on the phone and squashed it. Then he goes and diss him on a song after the fact?
And troy definitely listened to this interview carefully before recording his diss record. Joey was saying how hard it is to start any beef with him because you really have to disrespect him for him to get into it. I guess he took his advice

funny thing about Joey is this kid was born in 95 and trying to remake the Sound of 93-95
Its one thing if dude was born 85-90 and actually grew up on the sound he is trying to make, but dude grew up in the Shiny Suit to Snap Era so he wasn't even old enough to comprehend the sound he is going for
