You do know public housing is governed by Federal law? The reason for what's happening in New York is because based on the Code of Federal Regulations those families are eligible for assistance. While the law allows for preferences on a waiting list based on certain criteria it's illegal to make citizenship status one of the preferences. It would take a literal act of Congress to change that otherwise the public housing authority would be acting illegally by putting households that are a mix of illegal immigrants and legal residents at the back of their waiting list or kicking them out of their public housing unit solely for that reason.of course. but how does that help a family of citizens who are sitting in line for these apartments behind a family of illegals and one asylum seeker

i dont have anything against these people, and i wish there was no wait list. but since that isnt the caseidk, some think of immigration from a national perspective but i think it's more accurate to think of it from a worldwide perspective. Plenty of americans immigrate to other countries so it's about reciprocity at this point. i don't think the HL would like it if others countries closed their borders on us but maybe they dont care to go elsewhere at any point in time
