There will be a power vacuum in Northern Syria when the US withdraws.

You do know you're describing a power vacuum right? No. The YPG is there. They will either side with Assad or get removed by Turkey. There won't be any power vacuum.

Not entirely. The mere facts that the kurds have to find a new ally in order to maintain their existence once the US leaves means there would be a power vacuum created by our withdrawal.Nah. The Kurds going from US "ally" to Assad "ally" is not a power vacuum.
This is just a readjustment of alliances. Where is the power vacuum? Kurds were fighting against Turk backed militia even when the US was there. A power vacuum implies a situation when someone loses control of something or territory and no one has replaced them. It's not the case here. As I said, the Kurds are an organized force controlling that territory.

See. The mistakes we made throughout the latter half of the 20th century and the early part of the 21st century are pretty self-explanatory.
I’m sorry but this shyt is beyond ridiculous. I can see disagreeing with trump on almost every thing but this has been a liberal dream for ages to get out of the Middle East. Now trump does it and he gets nothing but backlash from both sides
Guess that military industrial complex has everyone caught up![]()
Nah, imperialism and colonialism greatly increased instability and violence there. So basically like it's been for long before we arrived or the Soviets arrived or hell the British arrived.
We're not rebuilding afganistan into a western european/American clone. Unless we're killing ISIS, which I know they have a presence in Afganistan, shyt needs to end. Like I said, with folks like Howard Dean we'll be in Afghanistan another 18 years and never leave. It's always "too soon" with these types. fukk that shyt .
Just asked him to allow the people to decide. So he wanted a diplomatic coup d'etat. I guess that's less messy.![]()
This is a very loose use of the expression "power vacuum" since there is no vacuum in this case. In reality, the presence of US troops over there was did not have the purpose to control a territory.
In fact, the US is not leaving the game: as I said, this is an alliance readjustment on the ground. The US chose Turkey over the Kurds. And it was known that the US would have to make a choice between the two at some point.
whatever reason trump brought troops home, it's the right thing to do
Theory of right action applies here.whatever reason trump brought troops home, it's the right thing to do
