I was going to post something else but in doing research I realized how delusional a lot of you guys are. Donald Trump said this in one of his recent tweets declaring victory in Syria:
"I am building by far the most powerful military in the world. ISIS hits us they are doomed!"
First, there is no victory in Syria. No one knows what he is talking about. They still exist. ISIS remains and the area is fukked. Second, I think he is trying the old George Bush victory in Iraq strategy. By declaring it (Bush's "Mission Accomplished" banner anyone?), he can tell his base that he was successful and add that to his "accomplishments." I think more likely he is afraid of being blamed for problems in the Middle East.
Third, he stated in the quote above and another tweet that he is building the most powerful army in the world, meaning he is going to continue spending ridiculous amounts of money and encouraging the military industrial complex. Fourth, he states that if we are attacked by ISIS that we will retaliate. That is more military intervention he is promising.
But, at the same time, I think most of you are missing the point. It isn't that Trump is some hippy who wants the troops home it's that he has no real principles. And certainly no good ones. He will do anything.
If his base said to nuke Iran he would do it. If Rush Limbaugh says to do a government shut down over the border wall he does it. This is not a victory on any level - it's just Trumpian propaganda.
