This decision deserves no praise because it doesn't lead to peace in the ME (he campaigned on this), a decrease in the military budget (he's touted raising the budget in the past few weeks), and it's under the false premise that ISIS has been defeated (they have not).

On top of that this decision has set back relations with our allies (they're important) and lead to another cabinet level posts without a confirmed head.

You seem triggered. What has you so tightly wound?:picard:
hypocrisy and inconsistency :ehh: if obama wound down afghanistan you would applaud it. as would i

let's get specific: after 15 years in afghanistan with no end in sight, when specifically would you like to pull out of this conflict?

one singular move won't solve the problems in the middle east...however, puling out of Syria is a step in the right direction. The US created all of the issues in that area with the CIA funding of ISIL and the outright theft of Syrian oil fields. I don't care what Trump's intentions are, but this is the right move.

Agreed on the decrease in military budget

I don't think Trump believes ISIS has been defeated...he's just spitting verbal diarrhea as usual

This is what happens when you talk without doing any research.

Did you know that the number of troops Trump is leaving in Afghanistan is almost exactly the same level we were at when Obama left office?

Pulling out isn't as simple as sending all the troops home. The reason why Trump's intentions matter because that will greatly affect how this is handled.

Depending on how it is carried out it could ultimately affect Troop moral especially with regards to special operations command.

But I'll let you all cook.

I answered your question.

Is it a pullout if he's only dropping troop levels back to where it was before he took office? :sas2:
so if it's not a pullout, then what's the problem? why are you complaining?

are you saying obama had unacceptable troop levels in afghanistan? you're all over the place

I was going to post something else but in doing research I realized how delusional a lot of you guys are. Donald Trump said this in one of his recent tweets declaring victory in Syria:

"I am building by far the most powerful military in the world. ISIS hits us they are doomed!"

First, there is no victory in Syria. No one knows what he is talking about. They still exist. ISIS remains and the area is fukked. Second, I think he is trying the old George Bush victory in Iraq strategy. By declaring it (Bush's "Mission Accomplished" banner anyone?), he can tell his base that he was successful and add that to his "accomplishments." I think more likely he is afraid of being blamed for problems in the Middle East.

Third, he stated in the quote above and another tweet that he is building the most powerful army in the world, meaning he is going to continue spending ridiculous amounts of money and encouraging the military industrial complex. Fourth, he states that if we are attacked by ISIS that we will retaliate. That is more military intervention he is promising.

But, at the same time, I think most of you are missing the point. It isn't that Trump is some hippy who wants the troops home it's that he has no real principles. And certainly no good ones. He will do anything.

If his base said to nuke Iran he would do it. If Rush Limbaugh says to do a government shut down over the border wall he does it. This is not a victory on any level - it's just Trumpian propaganda.

You said I'd Obama had withdrawn the troops we'd be praising him.

  • Fact check: Obama significantly lowered the Troop level in Afghanistan.
Trump routinely criticized our presence in Afghanistan prior to taking office.said he'd do an immediate withdrawal

The complaint is simple:

Trump lacks any type of consistent military policy that has alarmed the military itself.

Bingo.

Trump is controlled by Fox news. Fox essentially is running the country, they know he's watching and are speaking to him directly. Trump doesn't take advice from his generals and advisors. He references Fox and Friends and Hannity.

Pretty fukking insane. But what do we expect when a reality tv host is President. He's like if Jim Carreys Cable Guy character became president. Tv controls him and he must control tv.
