You hate guns and I suggest you never buy one if you believe pulling a gun on someone that doesn't pose you or your loved ones immediate bodily harm is responsible gun ownership.

There's no state in the U.S. that allows you pull a gun on a non threat. I don't even Texas or Florida let's you do this.

This sh1t is obviously fake but walking outside to "assess" the situation with a rifle and proceeding to chamber that rifle in a haphazard manner can lead to rushes in judgement being made. The thief was already walking off with the package and had he shot that person, he would be headed to prison for manslaughter.
I know it looked cool and it was funny to laugh at but that's not the way to do things. You get the license plate # and call the authorities.
