Dude you are talking booking right now. Nash at NO point in time was bigger than Sting.
Yes the NWO was the biggest angle in WCW (arguably wrestling) history, but no ONE person gets credit for that, it was a team effort. But the NWO angle itself was built around Sting as much as anyone else not named Hogan. Who was the main hero against thw NWO heels? Sting
Nash was very over and is much more charismatic than Steve Borden is as a person, but people were not paying to see him work. Even look at it now, people are BEGGING the WWE to get Sting, even in his current Larry Holmes form, at WrestleMania at least one time. Are people clamoring for Nash anywhere?
And for the record, Sting will be over in ANY area he goes to, he is a legit living legend in this business
1. Debatable. Nash was pretty damn over and people were hating on Goldberg not only because they were tired of him, but also because they wanted to see Nash win the strap. Its not just like they hated Goldberg and Nash just happened to be the guy.
2. The direct comment I was responding to was R=G saying Sting means much much more to wrestling history than Nash. The Outsiders crashing WCW was a super hot angle and the Bash at the Beach Hogan turn propelled it to astronomic levels. Nash was more in the forefront aside from the Crow angle, though Sting was a major player...and he wasnt exactly always the main hero. The Horsemen, Macho, Goldberg and DDP also played a role as WCW representatives vs the nWo..it wasnt just Sting. That was a team effort too. Sting's peak against them topped anyone elses probably (Crow vs Goldberg idk).. but he also declared himself to be a free agent, and the allure of the Crow Sting was that he was basically unaffiliated (picking and choosing his battles), then chose the Wolfpac.
3. Charisma and mic work doesnt play a role in comparisons? To each their own. But it's worth noting that the Jackknife was over as fukk and people enjoyed seeing him tag with Hall. Im not too sure people were paying to see Sting work in the ring all that much either (Crow used the bat more than HHH used the sledgehammer), but he is admittedly the better worker. Not debating that.
4. People want to see Sting in the WWE because its uncharted territory and he is a legend. Im not debating that either. Id have Sting in my Top 15. But you have to recognize that they don't want the TNA Sting that they currently have now ..(Main Event Mafia? ) It'd have to probably be enigmatic Crow Sting, and it would have to be a very short run. People aren't clamoring for Nash anymore because theyve seen him in the E a lot (and the E botched the nWo poison injection)...he was fairly over during that run and remained over in the Elim Chamber match. He also got a huge pop as Diesel. People were intrigued with his latest run (although smarks have always been sick with him) even though it was random as fukk and until booking ruined the hell out of it and made it outrageously unproductive it wasn't all that bad. They were never going to give Nash full freedom on the mic like he had when he was very over in WCW..and even though he seemed rusty, he still dropped the classic short order cook line. Crow Sting would be easier to integrate, and people recognize this. Sting and Undertaker always drew the most inter-fed comparisons from decades past..
5. How over has Sting been in TNA? People paying to see him work? The people just want to see a Crow Sting run against Taker just to see what would happen with the E machine behind him for the first and only time.
