But it wasn't really entertaining though....especially for anyone watching it when it went down without knowing all of that back story bull$hit that kids these days get to know about ahead of time almost 20 years after the fact. $hit was a nightmare watching that crap compared to the Nwo and the rise of Austin in general.
Yea I agree, that period has definitely been elevated over time now that the back story of what was going on at the time has been heavily documented to death over the years. I thought it was great even back then, just based off the fact that I was a huge Bret fan growing up, and he always seemed legit pissed off during those times :pachaha: And its kinda hard to say the Bret/Shawn rivalry wasn't as hot as he rise of Austin, because for a chunk of 97' they were pretty much intertwined together.

I don't think anything Shawn has done was ever as hot as Austin..especially when Austin turned face. He got silence big time after Bret called him and Cripple H a queen and walked to the back while they were in the ring looking stupid.

Shows you why he was a never a drawing act because he damn sure didn't know what he was talking about and overrated his worth. He retired and no one gave a damn a month later as Austin was rolling and breaking records. Bret leaving the WWF caused mass hysteria, Rude leaving DX, the nwo acknowledging with Rude shooting on it, and it created the Vince McMahon character that opposed Austin. So he was the real changing point of how the Attitude Era kicked off..not Michaels.

Everyone knows that...which is why Bret returns to the ovations he does these days and Shawn does not.
Thats got nothing to do with the quote tho fam...

But imagine if it was 1996 Real Ass Stone Cold and 1997 Real Ass Macho Man instead of 2001 jokey Stunning Stone Cold (which was dope, mind you) against 2001 jacked to the gills and can't move Macho Man.
