:salute: I was in the 7th or 8th grade when ATCQ first dropped. At that time cats in college were 18-22 years old. 25 years later they are now 43-47 years old, so they know that classic era of music for sure. They're still hip hop...only difference is they now wear suits in a corporate environment and got gray hair and kids in high school/college.
It's exactly why Straight Outta Compton was such a successful movie. I know people down here in their 40s who saw the movie and I didn't even think they liked rap

With tribe, we're starting to see the generation of rappers that the average white fan listened to back in the day. I think there's a lot of people that no longer listen to Hip Hop or who only listen to some jazzy shyt that know about Tribe and will be affected by Phife passing. They are all of the age now to be in this position in business, media etc.

No doubt. Quoting them doesnt mean you a fan tho. Here it could've just been the writers who saw an angle on a trending topic.

My point is to maybe take it with a grain of salt, like when interns running the online presence jumping in on the Drake vs Meek thing & ppl thinking the companies actually care about the situation rather than them pulling an angle to pull in some #'s/pub & shoutout who they may be in company with (Drake).

He seemed to know the material, but you may be onto something because when the main anchor said "you on point?" He didn't say "all the time" and kind of stumbled. :jbhmm:

Eh..

"Is it real son, is it really real son?" * Meth voice*

Is it just another way of pulling traffic from social media to TV - since its been trending - or is it genuine salute?

That we'll never know. I'd say it's a mix of both, but mostly leaning towards viewers.

Cats do know they got writers though right? So..its not like its the reporter doing anything but reading the teleprompter.

Good point, but I'm pretty sure dude is a genuine fan. He posted this a couple hours before he did the traffic report

Then he did a Facebook Live after the vid went viral

As @DaveyDave said there's a certain generation of white folks who LOVE A Tribe Called Quest and for many they were the first hip hop group that they seriously listened to so it makes sense that dude is a fan
