Do you take this same attitude in regards to an issue like say domestic violence? Even though black women are clearly victims of DV at higher rates than black women, black are victims of DV too. Yet this fact is often called a deflection to black women being domestically abused simply because black men aren't domestically abused as much. DV against black men is basically ignored and even made fun of(see jay Z-Solange), would you say that's an example of black female privilege?
They never do,that's why people look at them as full of shyt. Don't say we men ignore things when we can just as easily say and prove women do same things regarding men too.

Wow, so we can't have white privledge either? And I thought racism didn't exist.

How can We, the United States of Northern America, be united, when the District of Colombia is technically not apart of said States?

aka we can't prove shyt but please just believe us
To deny that black male privilege exists is to deny that male privilege exists. Male privilege relies on actions and attitudes that come at the expense of women. When we look at race our privilege, as black men, results from actions and attitudes that come at the expense of black women. I would also like to make the point that you can acknowledge the historical atrocities, and the current issues of racism that we have to deal with as black men and ALSO acknowledge the privilege we get from being men in a patriarchal society. Black male privilege is where race and gender intersect. Thats all I'm saying.

The tragedy of being Black In America is that your life experience has pretty much been defined by being a racially oppressed minority. So much so that to many, the concept of oppression occurring that isn't racially motivated is inconceivable. So much so that many Blacks don't think non racially motivated oppression doesn't exist. Or racial oppression against people who aren't Black isn't as "valid".

Getting people to understand social constructs is already hard enough. Getting a historically oppressed people who have been primarily defined by ONE social construct that other social constructs are considered just as important than race isn't happening.

I know for a fact there are women posing as men on here.
What? Lol. Women dont pretend to be men. Men pretend to be women. I do know some chicks that people ASSUME are guys because they dont outwardly claim their femaleness but look how some of these dudes act. That's justified, right?

Black male privilege isn't tangible. Its an experience.

It is definitely tangible. It is the reason why despite Black women making up 75% of the earners of Black graduate degrees, and the majority of the Black degree holders, Black men still earn more on the dollar than Black women and have far more wealth. Being male in a patriarchal society is a privilege, period. Blackness does not exempt Black men from that, it just doesn't get them as much privilege as white men.

I agree with you, but the person I was responding to I was trying to make it clear that BMP isn't saying that we're born with silver spoons in our mouths and given all types of gifts for being black men. I feel like people spend too much time on the actual word "privilege." But I agree that BMP is real.

derp :francis:
Generation Y Black Women Outearning Black Men
"For decades, women have been trying to close the wage gap with men, who still earn more than their female peers with the same level of education. But one group — young, single women with no children — has closed that gap and is pulling ahead of their male counterparts.

An analysis of census data by consumer research firm Reach Advisors found that women between the ages of 22 and 30, without children, had bigger paychecks in 2008 than their male peers in 47 of the 50 largest U.S. cities. Their wages were 8 percent higher, on average, but varied considerably from one city to the next.

Atlanta, Ga., offered the best financial opportunity for these women, who took home 121 percent of the average wage for their peers. Young, single women were also substantially better-paid in Memphis, New York, Sacramento and San Diego."

what now?
