He had Peerless Price as a number 1 in an era when it really mattered, lol. shyt if Vick had a Derrick Mason instead of Peerless Price...the falcons would have probably had a few double digit win years.

Alge Crumpler was doing well as the TE...but falcons didn't have what was needed at WR to be truly competitive for the era....it was brought up routinely by commentators of the time.

And let's not forget Roddy White struggled his first couple seasons....Roddy didn't break out until one Joey Harrington season and then Matt Ryan era.

Vick was one of those phenoms, those lightning in a bottle talents that just took the league by storm. He’s the definition of “You just had to be there” to truly understand what Vick meant to people at that particular point in time. He’s the Allen Iverson of popular football.

Plus the dog-fighting scandal and how it highlighted racial differences in America, similar to the OJ Simpson case, just added to it.
